The grocery thing isnt jsut a new york thing. You act like only ppl in NYC dont own a car. thats everywhere. Plenty of ways around that. I live in DC and i brought grocerys on the bus or subway before. But if you want to do big shopping you jsut ask somebody if they dont mind taking you to the market or go with some one when they go. In Baltimore, they have hacks waiting outside, but i'm not trusting enough to hop in oneof those, but i seen others.

And then the part about the getting away sounds more lie laziness. Whenever i want to get away i just get out. Don't need a car to "get away". Dont need a car to listen to music. Just put on my beats by bruce lee or jose with my ipod and walked into society down out by my headphones. More therapeutic for me walking cuz some ignorant-in-a-rush-dont-know-how -drive mothafukka going interrupt my moment of "peace and clarity" with stupid driving casuing me to react so i don't get in an accident

*a meet me on 145944q4249R8439848588473*$8484$&$($)#@ ST. at 2pm but make sure you take the A train before 8 because congestion on the Bline across from 2934th ave is crazy around 12. You got your bus pass still because the flooding on the A line means i gotta wait a good 30 minutes for each bus and it.......(blah blah blah)

Meanwhile in Los Angeles.

*ima honk the horn at 8 be ready*

(drives to bytches house)

tha grocery stores are usually down tha street, they also have these roller carts you can buy, so when u go to tha grocery store u just put tha stuff in that roller cart and roll it home, on tha way home u can holler at several fine bytches outside or strike up convo with plenty of characters on tha street (that is if they have time for u, its NY after all)

but its fun just observing all tha stuff going on around u, something is always happening

as far as getting a t.v. or something, u just call a taxi, put it in their trunk

as far as getting away from all tha madness, thats a good one, but there are parks in tha city and they are surprisingly peaceful in certain spots..... theres even other places (24 hour cafes etc that are peaceful)

u can just chill up in a 24 hour cafe @ 3 am if u want to, kickin back relaxin, in Cali everything is closed at that time :scusthov:

thats just my experience in NYC for a month, yeah u might not be used to it at first, but trust me u adopt hella fast and learn to luv it, well atleast i did....

maybe cuz i grew up in Cali all my life, but i enjoyed not having to sit in a isolated car and drive to tha grocery store, then drive home in another lonely car ride :to:

tha subway, buses, etc in NYC are a fun ass adventure everytime :obama:

I loved New York, if I had the ties and structure I have in San Diego, I could adapt to NY, no problem, but I am not the one for a dollar and a dream 'I'm going to make it one way or another' move to NY shyt, I'll settle for a vacation here and there. The winter would take getting used to, but people adapt.

I live in Queens, we have houses. I got my own whip and so thats not an issue. Corner stores are a god send when you have the late night munchies and nothing in the house. I been to many different cities and states across the mason dixon line and hated the fact that I have to go to westbubblefukk just to get something to eat. Corner stores :win:

I've only seen, but a few folk bringing groceries on public transportation, but thats cuz they have a certain affinity to a certain store. There's a grocery store within at most three blocks anywhere in Manhattan, so thats not really an issue.

As far as the rent in that other thread, that shyt is too damn high. Only sucka ass cacs spend that much money for very little living space. Also we're going through gentrification, where they kick all the black folk out, renovate the area, then make the rent high as fukk so only a certain "class" of people can afford it. My mortgage is $1600 on a stand alone house, two floor, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 2 kitchens, fully furnished basement. fukk I look like spending $1000 for a one bedroom apartment. :heh:

There are grocery stores everywhere here...it's highly unlikely that you'll have a long commute from your apartment to a corner store.

Big purchases get delivered to my apartment building and my doormen notify me...

NYC is a bustling place but it's not like there are NO quiet spots...1st order of business is to get out of midtown and head further south...bunch of nice chill spots in the Village during the day...UWS and UES is also very quiet...

During the summertime, I spend weekends in the Hamptons with a bunch of friends or I'm traveling internationally for vacation...
