Some people like it, some people don't. The only time I've seen rats is on the train tracks. Bedbugs once, but the dog brought it in and a bit of cleaning fixed it up. Mice a few times but I don't know what it is, it could be seasonal thing or the fact I live in an old building.
Me, at the same time I love NYC but sometimes I want those wide open spaces.
Usually it's on the train that I get a bit mad, but I think it's more fear of crowds and seeing people so miserable every day. Instead of being holed up in cars with frustration and road rage and traffic jams you see these people up close and personal.
But sometimes I post these random ass generic pics from my phone on facebook and get the 'you're so lucky' comments from some people, so
- it's overrated or maybe I've gotten used to it.

i live in a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment in harlem and we only paying $850 a month, my parents use to live here before they moved to jersey and my name was on the apartment since i was 20 years old, been living in this building all my life even when it was a crack building before being renovated to what it is.i love new york city i cant stand anywhere else, everything i need is literally all around me and all my family and childhood friends live in a 10 mile radius. i guess cause im a new yorker but i hate being somewhere where its too quiet, i need to be in a live city. i guess its cause im use to it
by the way, i just came from times square and thats easily the worst place in nyc. everytime im down there i hate it, TOO MANY fukking people in one spot. i just went to olive garden and it was a two hour wait for me and my shorty for a table. so we say fukk it and go to t.g.i. fridays because we never been in there, and my bill was fukking $75 bucks without tip for a motherfukking bacon chedder burger w/fries, chicken tender w/fries, mozzarella sticks, ultimate long island ice tea and a water
...most things below 110st are expensive as shyt, but you can find a lot of gems there like bars that sell $2 beers and $1 shots that you wont find anywhere uptown ima be a new yorker till i die fukk all you hating ass outta towners
