Interestingly enough, one of the amendments being voted on this election was for voter ID.

Utility bill is fine, but It doesn't rebut what I'm saying, which is it takes less than 2 years to get a photo ID. It is not a hardship that takes 2 years to overcome.

But what you're saying is equally unrebutting. If it was ok to only need an utility bill to vote, then why change it? Secondly, we know that old people vote more often than young people. Plenty of older black voters live in rural areas and don't have access to vehicles. Plus they're old and aren't nearly as mobile as they used to be. So going out to re-register to vote because of a law that was never needed in the first place is going to be hassle. Also, if you're moving the DMVs away from rural areas, closing them at convenient times, and requiring these people to go hunting down birth certificates from hospitals that may not exist, then you're causing them unnecessary time and effort just to be able to vote.

Complicating a process and making it more difficult to engage in the process are clear signs of voter disenfranchisement. Just because it doesn't take 2 years to do so, doesn't mean it doesn't take more time to do so. Unnecessarily so.
