Surprisingly the next gen consoles have regressed in many ways here are my observations of what's missing so far.

Xbox One has a non-upgradable HDD. Obviously since it has that there's no way to make a full backup of your HDD and for now even though you can upgrade a PS4's HDD you can't back it up either. You can copy save files but download 200GBs of games and wanna swap the HDD you'll be re-downloading those same games or re-installing them.

Ripping CDs and using your own background music you didn't buy from a console store also appear to be gone. Heck the PS4 doesn't even play CDs and the Xbox One only plays them back. Also the Xbox One doesn't allow you the end user to manage your HDD data. It does that for you I guess?

My PS3 auto-backed up my games to the cloud and would cut on every day at a specific time and upload any new data. Seems on the PS4 you have to manually upload your data to the cloud or back it up. In the event of a random hard drive failure on either of these consoles you're screwed.

Media functionality has taken a hit as well. Back on the PS3 one could put video files on the HDD. The PS4 at the moment only plays media bought from Sony's online stores and doesn't stream off DLNA at all. While the Xbox One streams media content from a Windows PC it doesn't play said content off USB external storage.

I may need to go back and look but browsing the stores for both consoles only allows you to see content for those consoles and nothing previous to them. If I wanna buy a Vita game on PSN doesn't seem like the purchase can be made from a PS4 or downloaded to one. A feature I really liked on the PS3 was using it to store PS1 and PSP/PSV games so I don't have to re-download them online. Using the home console as storage for portable transfers.

The PS4's Blu-Ray player dropped support of 3D-Blu-Rays and the PS3 Blu-Ray remote. Neither does the Xbox One play 3D-Blu-Rays.

The Xbox One controller also isn't at the moment compatible with PC games. Said to be coming in 2014.

Granted some of these issues will likely get patched. They still seem like easier parts of functionality to get going.

I don't like being sold an unfinished console. These guys need to stop rushing the user experience just to ship out before the christmas period.

Buying a console as soon as it's released is retarded, you guys took a huge L as the guinea pigs of this next generation.

I think you mean the specs wont change, the hardware on the other hand will most definitely change when the slim lines and expanded hdd consoles are released, in the same manner they were released last gen.

ummm....the main issues are software related....which will be fixed via updates. The specs won't be any different 5 years from now.

You're one of the worst posters in this forum.

You know it's okay to look at the good in life, right?

Why are you so negative?

Everything you listed can/will be fixed by a software update. That's the price you pay for being an early adopter.

Too early to be saying all of that. Just wait to they start adding features in future updates. A lot of that stuff isn't top priority just yet. Hell, Sony hasn't even released their console worldwide.
