I played safety and never had to do a hip drop on anyone. I was always taught to wrap up and roll or use their momentum against them.

I know…. I just figured maybe a situation happened where the ball did get over the top of your or you had to cross the field and catch someone….

But still you not staying on Defense Code! Lol

Man, what?
without the threat of injury a lot of defenders would struggle

if the offensive player knows he doesn't have to think about protecting himself from getting his head blown off or his legs snapped now he remembers oh shyte i can just run by this dude shake him off overpower him whatever

it maked tackling more difficult than just launching yourself tryna splatt a opponent makes it more like a rugby style tackle where you have to get your opponent to the ground but you can't aim for the head or legs

it ain't the end of the world if you need to hurt somebody & that's your only option as a defender body shots work i noticed a few defenders figuring that out last season they were putting players out the game with body shots

if you don't get what i am saying it's cool a lot of shyte gets lost in translation on the internet HA

I understand it’s a dangerous play. I never played football at any level so if there’s anyone here that did play help me understand. If I’m trying to tackle someone with 15-20 pounds on me and Im wrapping him up from the side. He’s like 4 yards from the first down. How am I supposed to not only get him on the ground but prevent him from moving forward and get the first down without completely dropping my weight to stop progress? Is there another strategy y’all were taught in this kinda situation? I’m legit curious cause Mark Andrew’s getting injured was a killer so I get the removal but what could he have done differently? An ankle tackle allows easy ability to reach forward for extra yards.
Wrap up and roll.

Not really. Think of the momentum. When you roll someone you're sweeping them off of their feet instead of trying to collapse them down onto themselves
Makes sense. What about if you get stiff armed and your momentum is stopped but you’re still wrapping up. With the roll not having a ton of momentum behind it, seems like a bigger stronger guy would be able to withstand that roll and not go down. Where as if you drop your weight they would.

Now tell me how that goes if Javier Arenas or Lamarcus Joyner does this on a big Gronk or Derrick Henry type mf

If you drop your weight they would, but it's a dangerous tackle that causes too many injuries. If you can't tackle a guy without injuring him...maybe you're not good enough to tackle him.

What happens when a Javier Arenas or Lamarcus Joyner tries to tackle a Gronk or Henry anyway :pachaha: Those dudes have made a career of not getting tackled. I don't understand your question.

This is an automatic first down (half the distance to the goal) or touchdown next season

Wrap up and roll him over his right shoulder instead of dropping him on his left :pachaha:

EDIT: If his feet didn't happen to sweep out Andrews' left leg, that would have been a nasty ass injury for Andrews :scust: Almost was anyway because dude had his entire body weight on just Andrews' ankle but the momentum took him through
