No one tanks in the NFL
We definitely tanked for trevor lawrence, colts tanked twice infamously and I personally feel that the bengals tanked for burrow.

Plus hue and flores have said before they got paid under the table to lose games and tank when they got fired

#LyricsMatter
Teams may not TANK per se, but they definitely make it more challenging to win with subtle team management decisions.

Lottery is a bad idea in the NFL.....just sounds like a way for ol Rog to control where an elite talent gets drafted.

Like a young Peyton would be lined up for the Colts but somehow the LA Rams or NY Giants picking at #6 "win" the lottery. They wouldn't use fukkery all the time but for any generational talent...they most certainly would. No way Trevor Lawrence ends up in Jacksonville in a lottery system.

NFL requires much more focused/talented scouting because one player, even a QB, can make you good....but they can't get you to the playoffs much less win a ring without help. In the NBA, one player can take you from 20 wins to 50+ wins and regular playoff appearances. Lottery is needed in the league because tanking is too tempting and the upside is MUCH higher.

A crap front office in the NFL can take for one player and STILL suck even after getting the reincarnation of Lawrence Taylor/Jim Brown/Jerry Rice/Patrick Mahomes all rolled into one player.

Yeah like other ppl mentioned the draft process is way different in the NFL

Way less incentive to covet the top pick or top 3 picks; second round still gives you a lot of major contributors, and there are plenty of good players in rounds 5-6 and even a few decent ones go undrafted

Unlike the NBA where even in the late first round there are picks that never even end up playing

that's an argument for the lottery not being necessary since it hasn't led to these big turnarounds.

now, if you're tanking for a USC QB, you obviously don't respect your job security, but football has so many positions that you feel you could find a spectacular talent, especially later. It's easier to talk yourself into thinking someone in rounds 2-3 is gonna be spectacular for your team.

the #1 pick uniquely puts a spotlight on your team for months and sells hope. That's the main immediate benefit of tanking, but you can sell that hope just by drafting a QB if you need one.

Hopefully y'all pick Bryce or CJ this year :sadcam:
