Yeah its instinct but its also wrong
JV Football the first thing they tell you not to do is lower your head. Cuz 1. You can't see anything when your eyes are down 2. Thats a cool way to get paralyzed
They also tell you to wrap up when you tackle and NFL players ignore that too. NFL players don't really give a shyt about form and technique...

I disagree with this too. The hardest hits come when you have plenty of time to react and the blocker/tackler just wants build momentum to T-off on somebody (crackback blocks, defenseless receiver, kickoffs etc).Yeah I get that, but again, EVERY NFL player does it. Maybe not all the time, but they all do it.
And every part of the game is bad. Tackling is bad for your body. Your body is not made to absorb constant blows from other humans, or the ground. The NFL is just protecting it's monetary interest. If it came out thru research that players get some sort of degenerate nerve disease from tackling, the NFL would alter that too....even tho that's Football 101
It really has nothing to do with players not giving a damn about form or technique. It's survival....your job is to get the man down...you miss the tackle, there's another guy that wil take ur place. If you have 5 secs to prepare for a tackle, then you can make that decision to form tackle....
But if ur a safety and you dont see who has the ball then al of a sudden the RB breaks thru and is right up on you, you have to make tackle however you can.![]()
