Yeah its instinct but its also wrong

JV Football the first thing they tell you not to do is lower your head. Cuz 1. You can't see anything when your eyes are down 2. Thats a cool way to get paralyzed

They also tell you to wrap up when you tackle and NFL players ignore that too. NFL players don't really give a shyt about form and technique...

Yeah I get that, but again, EVERY NFL player does it. Maybe not all the time, but they all do it.

And every part of the game is bad. Tackling is bad for your body. Your body is not made to absorb constant blows from other humans, or the ground. The NFL is just protecting it's monetary interest. If it came out thru research that players get some sort of degenerate nerve disease from tackling, the NFL would alter that too....even tho that's Football 101

It really has nothing to do with players not giving a damn about form or technique. It's survival....your job is to get the man down...you miss the tackle, there's another guy that wil take ur place. If you have 5 secs to prepare for a tackle, then you can make that decision to form tackle....

But if ur a safety and you dont see who has the ball then al of a sudden the RB breaks thru and is right up on you, you have to make tackle however you can. :manny:

I disagree with this too. The hardest hits come when you have plenty of time to react and the blocker/tackler just wants build momentum to T-off on somebody (crackback blocks, defenseless receiver, kickoffs etc).

When the ball carrier is right on you and you have no time to react, most of the time the best you can do is try to trip him up or grab a jersey. That might lead to facemask penalty or something like that more than a big hit...

These players know what theyre doing when they lay each other out. But at the same time if you're not going 100% and the other man is...youre fukked. So thats when it becomes about "survival". Cuz the game is played at 100 miles an hour every single play you can't really pick and choose when you're gonna go hard and when you're not. Thats what makes football dangerous..

24/32 have to approve it. No need to whine about it until it happens.

Read the Tuck rule is under review. Qb's are on notice. :shaq:

good ones do. pat willis almost always wraps up unless he sees someone who will definitely back him up. same with bowman.

going for a big hit today is not that profitable anymore.

but this shyt is a disgrace

AD might as well retire.

I swear when I read this that's the first thing that came to mind. AD is the most physical running back in the league he is constantly lowering his shoulder and sometime head to deliver the blow instead of taking it. It sounds like the rule was brought up specifically with him in mind. This is just comical at this point!

BTW, the problem with the rule is that it's open for interpretation. The refs still can't get helmet to helmet contact right. There have been TOO MANY times where a defender makes contact with the shoulder and the whiplash effect will bring the WR's head forward and contact the helmet and the refs throw a flag. How can they make the right calls on this rule if they still haven't fully grasped helmet to helmet on the defense?
