Because although blacks have done well on the field, off the field has traditionally been a white male dominated area.

They see a brother saying "Yo, why shouldn't I get in on this"...and they are enacting new rules to stop it.

Black folks shoulda been recognized all the money being left on the table.

It's not just this rule...there seems to be a lot of fear over what Jay is trying to do. Most of the managers and agents in entertainment (GATEWAY types in movies, maybe not as important in sports) are white or jewish.

I feel like the glass ceiling is being purposefully raised, even if just a little.

This is relatively inconsequential, as pointed out in the article the easy way around it is to basically direct your team of agents to be your mouthpiece. For the masses and the NFL, have the guise that you are in no way involved, but behind closed doors let it be known that you still run the show.
