The NFL has narrowed down the list of potential performers for the 2015 Super Bowl to three candidates: Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Coldplay, these people said. While notifying the artists' camps of their candidacy, league representatives also asked at least some of the acts if they would be willing to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig.

Bruno Mars was probably the least known artist the SB has ever had. They aren't breaking out musicians that haven't already been at the top of the charts for years

While nothing is set in stone at this time, I will verify that we have reached out to the potential halftime performers about this. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the NFL trying to negotiate something new.

The Super Bowl is always the highest rated program of the year, so the potential new fans that could be gained from performing at this great spectacle is invaluable. These artists would lose a lot more revenue in the long run by passing on this opportunity than the small fee that we may require for the privilege of contributing to our halftime show. Some of you really need to look at the bigger picture.

To be honest the only time Super Bowl ratings decline its at halftime. NFL ain't dumb and No artist is bigger than the league. If ya don't wanna pay for play, you aint performing. And as BIG and world renown as these stars are, they will never be more popular than the league.
