That Mac Jones is QB1 for 49ers

Too late, they already paid Purdy.

Funny thing to me is that nobody is gonna look at SF/LA (Rams)/Minny/Seattle and ask if QBs are now disposable like RBs. If elite play callers can just phase in/phase out experienced QBs and reach high performance then what's the consequence? Do teams stop paying questionable QBs big money? Will they even be allowed to do it? The entire system runs on QBs - from the hype they receive to the post retirement opportunities they receive. But if, in 2027, some coach can whip out Trey Lance and make him a great QB for pennies....

I don't think the system will allow it. But then again if college keeps failing to develop QBs who knows.

So. Cal
Brock purdy is on borrowed time. It’s Mac jones time.
Niners are still a plug and play system at QB. Any average ass QB can be put in there and win. its been proven since the Alex Smith days.

@Bryan Danielson been stanning avg ass QBs all these years and don't even realize it :francis:

The thing is these elite playcallers aren't phasing QBs in and out from a position of power, they're doing it because they hit a wall with that individual

- Shannahan felt like he got all he could out of Jimmy, took a big swing on Lance and had to admit failure on that, had a chance to sit and wait on Purdy and instead prioritized him to the tune of 53m per
- McVay felt like he got all he could out of Goff, packaged him and multiple 1s to acquire Stafford and get over the hump
- KOC felt like he got all he could out of Cousins (the achilles injury also cemented that decision), took a big swing using a top 10 pick on JJM

When even the elite playcallers are still dedicating premium assets and massive cap space to the position the rest of the league is gonna follow suit.
