The Avs match the Flames offer sheet for O'Reilly.
Ryan O'Reilly is a terrific two way player, and I think every fan would take him on their team in a heartbeat, but that's a lot of money for a guy who hasn't proven to be a top scorer, don't ya think?
Ottawa ran into a similar issue a few years back with Mike Fisher making more than $4 mil a season. Loved him on the team but that's too much for a guy that doesn't get on the score sheet all the time.
If Calgary finishes the year in the bottom of the league, and their first rounder is a top 5 pick, this could be Phil Kessel-Tyler Seguin all over again.
colorado matched like idiots
could have prob got a top 5 pick a nathan mackinnon or maybe a seth jones and a third rounder, now o'reilly will be making 6.5 mill next year
i love offer sheets i dunno why more teams dont do it
Another thing about hockey culture I hate. We'd see more offer sheets though if the compensation wasn't so severe.

rarely do guys pan out anyways, id take a proven commodity any day

That would have been the blunder of the century.

Feaster needs to go. He's been absolutely horrible since taking over the Flames.
