Naw I'm not saying they aren't real. I'm saying the glorifying of the violence of the "savage life" that accompanies their music and seems to be a means of twisting death into entertainment, is not the message people should be taking from it. These aren't a new breed of super thugs from outter space or some weird shyt. Teenage gang members have been killing teenage gangmembers since Afrika Bambaataa was rhyming.

I'm not suggesting their music isn't valuable as a barometer for the problem of violence in inner city communities. I sincerely hope action is taken to quell the violence in Chicago and nationwide.

At the same time what I was speaking on is the fact that it seems a percentage of the hip-hop audience outside the inner-city culture is ascribing some kind of "ground breaking savage" trophy shyt to this particular group of youngsters when gun violence in the urban community is a decades old problem. It seems like some people are like:

:ahh: "I love this new breed of murderous young rapper."

When Mack 10, C Murder, Etc Etc were all going through the same shyt when they were 13-23 like most hood kids do.
I think people like it because it reflects the street life currently going on in chicago.

Bro the younger generation is was more reckless then the older heads. Poppin pills doin lines everyday all day bustin off not given a fukk. I respect that to a certain extent. But entertainment wise shyt I support it all day. Would be ashamed if they was from my hood tho real talk. Gunit from my hood, the biggest hustlers in the game . :lebransalute:

I don't fault inner city consumers for appreciating the fact that their story or one like it is being told. I don't fault suburban teenagers for being interested in ignorant music because they don't know any better.

It's just disappointing to me that, when the shyt is getting so much play and attention, no grown up is stepping in and saying:

Y'all sitcho ass down  and attempting to mediate these situations and bring change to what's taking place. The music reflects reality. So you can't blame the artists. But I do blame people in positions of power who are either :snooze: or saying "silly kids" :smugbiden: when the proper reaction is :mindblown: How many pics on instagram did we see with people rocking Hoodies for Trayvon, yet apparently the money isn't right because Al Sharpton hasn't shown his crypt keeper looking ass up in Englewood yet nor to my knowledge has Pimpin Jesse.

Like you said, because it aint nothing new. Is Al Sharpton going to go to every hood? I don't think that's a safe place for him to go anyways, he'd probably get robbed by those reckless kids.

You can't sit here and 'oh this shyt has been done a million times' then go 'why isn't anyone mind blown'. make up your mind.

Exactly, people into these lil niqqaz cause the situation in chicago is a mess and they represent that. The last time this phenomenom happened at such a big scale was in LA in the 80's, 90's... And everyone became infatuated with that shyt back then to the point crips and bloods spread out of california into the whole country. Also, people have become tired of most gangsta rappers becomin exposed for what they really are, so when you see these OTF GBE niqqaz you feel what they sayin is really what they livin, no hollywood industry made up shyt.

If you dont like it cool, but a lotta people in this board and everywhere like that type of music for whatever reason and people being people are always gonna big any they like up.

I gotta disagree. Older generations were smoking PCP all day running around hallucinating and merking shyt. Who in GBE is fukking with Slugger Morris or Wayne Perry? This shyt ain't unique in a historical context. But it's being pushed on mainstream culture like some sort of fad for entertainment. I'm not saying prevent the young men from getting their money in the music game by any means. I'm saying why aren't more effective problem solvers on the ground working toward change?

It has been done and is done on a regular basis in a lot of places. Like another poster said the capitalization on the situation is reminiscent of early 90's LA and even pre-Giulliani New York.

But NOW it's the hottest situation CURRENTLY. That's where I'm saying why aren't the people who claim their life's work is to handle this type of shyt taking action?

I'm not talking about taking action to stop Chief Keef and them from making music, but taking action so that the murder rate in that community isn't so far out of whack. You can't blame the messenger (Keef.)

exactly. Listening to lil wayne talkin about him busting someones wig back, just makes you go :heh:

but when these kids say it, you're like :ehh:

They reflect what it is, and the reason labels are on them now (in case you didnt know) was because they had a HUGE following in urban chicago highschools. they were discovered on youtube with some 700k views already, they didn't just come out of no where. Im sure if they werent real, they wouldn't have blown up in that scene. cause as you can tell people don't last very long in southside chicago. They are known for what they do, and so when the mainstream caught on, it was like oh ok these nikkas are real :gladbron: this aint some lil wayne or (insert hollywood rapper) vainly talking about bussin guns. those guns in the video with the extends have probably been used. It gives it surrealism.

The first tracks were actual newsfeeds of beefs going on between Lamron and surrounding enemies. I think they've since took some down, but that shyt was real as hell. HS kids all over the area were copping the mixtapes and getting down at school dances long before they got shine.

Is this new? no, but it's new in terms of how public it is now due to youtube and age of information. Now anyone can upload a video in real time. that's where the phenomenon comes from.

yeah, these older guys back in the days were CRAZY! CRAZY! was watching gangland about the gangster disciples in cabrini green and goddamn..... it makes me look @ these kids showing their guns like ya some fukking idiots. that shyt is NOTHING to glorify at all. you have some people that are that hopeless in life where they think that shooting, killing, selling drugs and basically being criminals is the only way to go. these are kids acting like they have no sense.

GBE music sucks by the way. it really, really sucks. their music is basically the same shyt. same flow, same type of hook, same beat, and even their videos is the same concept. if only these kids could put all that time into reading a book and doing something more productive. rapping isn't for them. these guys are just mini waka flockas. one was bad enough. we don't need copycats sounding like they don't know how to read, dancing around with guns looking like idiots.
