I remember around that time a few people tried to set up a "boxing league" for rappers to work out their differences and nobody really showed up.
It was random people that showed up, like a back up dancer for Black Sheep or some shyt. There was an article about it in The Source if I remember correctly.

I remember the celebrity boxing matches on Mtv where Sticky Fingaz got washed by some random white boy. Just like that, his (and Onyx's by association) whole tough guy image was ruined.
Freddie Foxx showed up. Some guy from South Central Cartel or some shyt. A handful of random ass people.
And I wouldn't even say Sticky got washed. If I remember correctly the judges were one vote from it being a tie.
Cats just expected Sticky to blow him out because he was a "street rapper" and when he didn't people acted like he got knocked out.
Which is why rappers don't fight. The ones that don't rely on a tough guy image don't have to and the ones with a tough guy image already have the fans fooled. So there's nothing to gain from a fight. If you lose all that tough talk is over with.

That solo part doesn't mean anything. At all. Since the early days of rap, whole crews have gotten involved in beefs between solo rappers. That's not unusual, it's a part of the game.

Washed may have been an overstatement, but Sticky's image definitely took a hit. The one good thing about that fight is that it gave us a memorable line in "How to Rob".
You're right though, having to actually fight would ruin a whole lot of rappers' careers. The way kids fight nowadays, there would probably be a lot of scratching and windmilling.
They get interviews. Benny gets more whan Conway and Gunn, though.
