Players like Luka, Steph, Giannis, Jokic etc are worth more to their respective franchises than they could ever be paid. Mavs could never, ever give Luka enough money that's equal to what he's generated for them.

Meanwhile, AD will inevitably be traded over the next 2-3 years and it's looking ever more likely that he won't even come close to making good on his contract.

Luka had made the Mavs 10x the amount of money he was going to get with the supermax, and that number would only increase as the years went on. No player other than Steph has made their respective franchise more money than Luka. The Mavs have lost millions in revenue since the Luka trade and AD is currently on the books for 54m this season, 58m next season and 62m the season after that.

They would've been in a far greater financial position to keep Luka over paying AD.

Now take your stupid ass back to TLR and stop talking about matters you have no idea about.

.

Mavs have lost all this money since Luka was traded yet Nico is still there almost a year later, yet your dumb light skin ass eating clown ass thinks he had any control :mjlol:

Kyrie and AD are out within 2 years.

Nico Harrison has not attempted to hide the fact that he was the brains behind the Luka Doncic trade.

Quizzed over whether governor Patrick Dumont actually laughed when Harrison first proposed the idea, he downplayed that a little, explaining the process.

“It wasn’t really a laugh, it was more of a chuckle. I’d said it [trade Luka] out of the blue.

“And then as we started talking more, I gave him reasoning behind it.
and you know, we’re a very process oriented organization.

“Everything we do is without emotion and goes through the lens of process. And so once we had those substantive discussions, then he saw the vision.
Bu-bu-but Nico had no control.

What makes this trade even worse -

They overpaid for Klay purely because he wanted to play with Luka. Now he's going through the motions because Luka ain't there anymore and there's not a PG worth a damn on the roster to feed him the rock. A good portion of the roster were Luka merchants who benefited from him setting the table for them and now their effectiveness has been drastically reduced. Even Kidd doesn't know what to do now he can't just rely on Luka to do everything.

The dumbass narrative about them not wanting to pay Luka the supermax, but now they're stuck overpaying for pretty much the majority of the main rotation.

Losing games; losing revenue; losing fans; losing the lockeroom.

Mavs didn’t want to pay Luka the Superman Supermax because they were worried about his health and conditioning, so they gave AD/Kyrie/Klay $328M over 3 years :russ:
I mean...when you put it like that :francis:. The fukked up part is that it seems like the trade lit a fire under Luka and put AD's out. Kyrie seemed like he was coming unto his own as a leader before he, unsurprisingly, got hurt. Klay was flabby when he got there.

I feel like its gotta be deeper than rap. No rich white person is letting a black man trade a white cash cow over defense and conditioning. Luka revenue woulda covered that supermax in no time. shyt is too convenient. Nico is the fall guy. We probably wont know the real until the 30 for 30.

Nico isn't the fall guy.

He is the guy.

He's been beefin with Luka long before the new owners took over. He fired all the training staff who were tight with Luka in 2023, leading to Luka hiring all his personal staff.
To try and take action, the Mavericks started making changes around Doncic in hopes that they would benefit him and make his conditioning more consistent. Per Tim MacMahon and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, the Mavericks fired former director of player health and performance Casey Smith in 2023, and fired strength coach Jeremy Holsopple and manual therapist Casey Spangler after last season—all staffers that Doncic enjoyed working with.

"They get rid of everybody I like," Doncic told an ESPN source.

The Mavericks’ firings did not work. Per ESPN, Doncic wound up hiring his own personal staff before last season
, bringing in Slovenian national team strength coach Anže Maček, physiotherapist Javier Barrio Calvo and Real Madrid nutritionist Lucia Almendros. This only increased the frustrations in the Mavericks organization while not improving Doncic's health.

Nico dripped poison into Dumont's ear until he convinced him that trading Luka was the right decision.

That rich white person is just a dumbass who doesn't know anything about hoops, and quite obviously is easily misled.

Then you aren't really familiar with New Sports owners being naive. Seen it happen plenty of times in various sports.

You get generally get 2 types the crazy ego maniacs who wants to do everything and interferes like the Suns owner. Or the ones who trust the experienced sporting people to do their job as they have the knowledge and give them freedom to operate. Nico had the latter and overplayed his hand trying to leave his mark to show whose boss as Cuban was no longer there.

Happens in Government all the time. In most jobs all the time too. Just because it's sports why would it be any different? Hands on or hands off owner both have their pros and cons. Even long term Sports owners like the Kroenke's got conned by trusting the wrong experienced sporting people at Arsenal.

The not gonna fire themselves

They trusted the wrong guy, but you want to absolve the “wrong guy.”

You can blame ownership AND blame Nico Harrison
