similar thing happened when I was selling my Ipad last year.
Dude almost got me too...same story..sending it to his family in nigeria..tells me he will send me the money via paypal. I get a paypal receipt in my email that looks exactly like a paypal receipt...but I dont see the money in my paypal account..just the receipt in my email...i call paypal and tell them I have the receipt...they tell me to fwd the receipt to them..and they confirm its about as real as 6 dollar bill.
Dude tried to get me to mail him my ipad by emailing me a fake paypal receipt

That's the scam? Anybody that sends the merchandise without checking their actual account deserves to get got
I could never understand why they bring unnecessary attention to themselves by paying more than the asking price. Just "pay" the 80 and see if the fool sends the sneakers. I always figured the pay more scheme involved getting cash somehow (like I'll "pay" 200 for the sneakers, could you drop a 50 in there as a gift to my cousin then keep the rest for your troubles) or some shyt like that.

It's sad that Nigerians have a bad rep. I have one good Nigerian friend who is a doctor and she's cool.

yea..soon as he said $200 i knew what it was
When they tried to get me for my ipad..I think it was listed for $350 and dude offered me $550
being that was my first encounter I was on some 
until I got the email...and my paypal account was still looking

You would have got an email on your end from Paypal directly saying that you received a payment. Good that you learned from it though.
thats what I got...they made a replica of a paypal email with the logo and everything...and sent that to my email. so i told paypal, hey, I have your email, why doesnt my account reflect the money...they said, fwd the email to us, and let us look at it...thent hey said, yeah we didnt send you that email.
These nigerian dudes are slick. I deleted the email already, otherwise I would show you.
