Read my earlier post. Nigeria didn't gain it's independence from colonialism until 1960. Blacks in the west have this image in our heads that Africa was just basking in black excellence while we were over here getting our asses beat. The reality is as we were marching and fighting, they were over there fighting just as hard as we were just to control their own land.
The same way we in the US have family members that bought lock, stock and barrel into white supremacy, most African nations went through a similar struggle.

Saying Nigerians hate themselves is ignoring the fact they suffered through a similar turmoil as we did, while removing the blame from white supremacy which is the root cause of both of our problems.
Just like us in the US, most of Africa were subject to the same propaganda as we were, so they have some of the same psychological problems as we do.
the main reason why these gurls bleach their skin is to look more "western" . Some do it to even out their skin tone but its mostly to look lighter b/c of what they see on T.V (i.e. White people). You cant argue that.

I'm more shocked & saddened by Western Blacks love affair with "white influence."
In Africa, because there are so few whites, all they see are the George Clooneys & Brad Pitts as heroes on their tv screen. ALthough, the colonialism that tainted their societies have left a lingering effect, they don't have "mean white faces" to look at on a daily basis.
But here? Everyday there is a possibility that you will see some type of Superior -Inferior paradigm in all facets of life. I do Criminal Law, so I see it all of the time.
And I will even fall on my own sword, I was only recently enlightened of these strong views on the topic. I was never a c00n, but best believe I didn't think the issues weren't at such a cataclysmic breaking point. *Shame on me* real talk.
How is it that we see all of this poison around us, from being laughed at and exploited(Maury Show) to our music becoming propaganda for violence against self(glorifying black on black crime) to the "New Jim Crow" that is the Criminal Justice System.
The fact that we are still trying to be accepted by them... It truly is amazing.
Those living in African countries should look at their leaders who sold them out. I'm sure it's more complicated than "blame Western media" because self-hate has manifested itself long before such a thing was global.
European and American Media corporations have way more capital than African Media. Which allows them to have more Reach and influence.
Is there no family structure? Is there no volition in what media a person chooses to consume? When an African leader signs a contract with a Western corporation is there no culpability?
