Is there no family structure? Is there no volition in what media a person chooses to consume? When an African leader signs a contract with a Western corporation is there no culpability?
Sir, western Media is filled with Whites or "lighter Skinned" people because it mainly caters to White people. How can you pick and choose what you want to show people when its basically them same ole same ole. I don't get it.

As far as family structure. Man, people are gonna do what they want, its no different than peer pressure

truthfully though, the whole thing about Blacks around the world bleaching their skn, while it is an issue, its blown out of proportion. You sill see black faces everywhere you go.

It's still an issue though.

LOL easy.... don't watch it.

And no, people don't just bleach their skin "because they want to" and it usually starts without the proper family structure to help promote a healthy self-image.

Doesn't seem to be an issue in America like it is in the Caribbean or Africa, which is quite interesting.

So saying the obvious platitude of "Whites control everything, their media defines the standard of beauty" isn't saying shyt because that is the reality but we as people have to be more mindful instead of playing victim.

How can you consciously make an effort not to consume American or European Media when its still pretty prevalent though:ld:

And whats the point of Being Mindful as a people when We as a people right now Do not have enough capital to control what we view?:ld: Like Kanye Said to Charalamage You need money to make Real moves nowadays. Not just a motivational speech.

I'm not trying to play black people as victims. I cant even stand it when we always play the victim role, but this is one those few times where its warranted IMO.

AND as far as Bleaching in the Caribbean and Africa is concerned. Like I said its blown out of proportion and I don't know why,

BUT its still an issue and the root of the issue is exposure to American Media. No need to break it down any further.

I can't speak on Nigeria as much because my upbringing has been more Jamaican but the guys ITT who said bleaching isn't the biggest problem are right. It's probably 5th or so in the list of problems behind imported workforces, the deterioration of Jamaican family culture, Yardies and "tourists" coming over for perverted sex/binge holidays.

White women are the standard of beauty.

Everyone wants to be her.
Now tell me this beastie...if I want to date a white woman, why would I go for a fake?

Bruh I know this white girl thing is ya whole angle on this site and all, but serious question. If you find the right snow bunny, and have a daughter with her. How would you feel if your daughter came out dark skinned?

we need to own and run our own media corporations which show a healthy image of our people. Thats what i'm trying to say...

I agree but those who self-hate will always exist because the problems for those kinds of people are more complicated than being exposed to media.

It's not an issue in the Caribbean. Only in JA do you hear about people bleaching.

Seeing this one hurt. Shorty was bad as fukk when she was darker :noah:
not really, she just kept getting work done on her... when you look at pics hen she first started out she wasn't nothing special. The bleaching was just the final step in her transformation.

Nah man I will marry a black girl (lighskinned one too, probably mixed), if my daughter comes out darkskinned, I will make sure she loves herself and do not follow the weave wearing, ghetto loud mouth stereotype.
