Y'all progressives may have some of the best policy positions but as long as your reflexes are to attack the party and voters and their chosen leaders you supposedly want to represent first, y'all gon stay takin

Turner won the majority of Black voters :francis:

Source? I’ve been looking for demographics on this race.

This isn't by race, but because of Cleveland's segregation - you can get a good idea just from looking at the chart.
The whitest and wealthiest suburbs pulled for Shontel Brown, the Black neighborhoods (aside from East Cleveland) pulled for Nina Turner

Similar thing happened in last year's South Carolina Dem primary. Even though the media made a big deal about Clyburn getting out the black vote to put Biden over the top, that out to be a cyse. Blacks voted at the same rate they did past South Carolina Dem primaries. It was actually the white suburbanite vote that Clyburn galvanized to put Biden over the top.

Politicians are liars, beholden to their largest donors, devoid of honor and integrity, have no real interest in fighting for the poor and working class etc.

so being a politician is terrible. the goal should be to elect activist whose only mission is to fight the good fight and deliver real change

Dem voters continue to elect politicians and they will continue to get the Joe manchins, kysten sinemas, dianne feinstens and Pelosis of this world who would never deliver real change

That's the way politics works. An activist will never be successful in politics. Ever.

Progressives need to win over Black voters. And it’s going to take more than pushing the same all inclusive policies the establishment Dems push.

That’s what the Bernie wing doesn’t get.
what has the establishment dems done to earn the black vote? What did shontel do to earn the black vote?

And there will never be real change. No reparations, No bridging the generational wealth gap between white and black people, No investment in public schools in the black community,No police accountability etc

As long as you accept that this is how it is and how it will be forever then good, just don't be the type to accept the status quo then complain when the same status quo does what it always does

Isn’t what you are describing is being a fatalist while being an active voter.

I've worked in politics, and when you're a politician, there has to be some... maturity of thought about what you're trying to accomplish.

Politics is corrupt, true but someone like Nina Turner isn't the answer. She's immature, abrasive, makes enemies, and has shown herself to be unwilling to work with others to get her goals accomplished.

No politician can accomplish anything by his or herself. When the Founding Fathers set up this political system, it was built to have checks and balances. No one man or woman should have all that power... and they don't.

The American political system requires teamwork to accomplish anything, and by nature, you have to be willing to work with others to get things done.

Someone like Nina Turner isn't going to do that. She's going to run into the corruption, laziness, etc etc, and instead of looking at it as... "This is the system I was elected into and I need to figure out a way to outsmart these ppl so that I can get what I want."

She's going to get angry and start attacking them, waging her "one-woman war against the establishment" that's gonna get her nowhere.

You think there haven't been ppl before her that recognize the flaws in the system and want it changed? Of course there have been. Everyone in political office isn't corrupt.

But the ones who aren't corrupt recognize that the system inherently is flawed, and they do what they can to work within the system to accomplish things.

At least, that's what the smart ones do.

You have to learn to outsmart everyone else. Politics is a thinking man and woman's game. You have to use your brain, not brawn, to make moves. It requires shrewdness, cleverness, and outmanuevering.

From what I've seen of Nina Turner, she doesn't have those qualities.

What activists strive for is a system or an alternative outside the current one

they exist concurrently cause they to a degree rely on one another.

Exactly. An activist's role in society is to push politicians to do more. Which is an integral and necessary role.

An activist by definition cannot be a politician.
