This thing won't match PS4 level of power if it's a hybrid console/handheld like the rumors suggest. No taking battery power into account for the hand held part and you'd get very little battery life and also it would be hot as fucc squeezing all that power into something smaller then a laptop, and power laptops cost racks and to squeeze all that into something the size of a 3DS we talking racks on racks. Yeah expect this shyt to be low powered:francis:

Gotta remember that no matter how much power Nintendo put into their next console, there's still the problem with 3rd parties (mainly western) that need to be fixed.

Western 3rd parties to Nintendo are the video game equivalent of :mjpls: to.......well you get the idea.

So unless Nintendo have been cutting big checks with EA, Ubisoft, WB, and Activision, it wont matter what "industry leading chips" will be in the console and the NX will be in the same spot the Wii U is.

The indie devs might jump on it since their relationship with Nintendo seems to be steady.:ehh:

Not as powerful as the PS4? Nintendo can eat ass with this nonsense. :camby:

Breh I'm a PC gamer so I'm a firm believer in "more is better" but graphics shouldn't be a focus for Nintendo. Their 1st party games come out too infrequently and their 3rd party support is basically nonexistent.

Obviously it would be great to have the best of both worlds but if they square away those two things I would gladly take a hit on graphical power.

Nah, Nintendo NEEDS more powerful hardware. That shyt holds Nintendo back not only on games but on scope and basic ass features. When they said they needed to make Smash Bros Online with no voice chat in game to keep performance stable I was like :snoop:

Anyway An admin on the Nintendo forums said this:

Nintendo has historically used last-generation technology in their consoles, which resulted in performance that was inferior to competitors' consoles. This was the case with GameCube, DS, Wii, 3DS, and Wii U, all of which were outpowered by Sony and Microsoft systems.

It looks like that practice is about to change with Nintendo's next generation console. Nintendo started distributing the software version of the "NX" development kit to qualified publishers and developers this week. We had a brief chat with a senior developer at a major game publishing company based in the U.S., and according to him, Nintendo NX is going to have very impressive hardware. Based on the development kit, the sheer processing capabilities of the hardware (which still hasn't been finalized) are going to be "incredibly powerful" and quite possibly faster than whatever Sony and Microsoft have in store. Specifically, one software demo included with the kit crunches so many polygons that it's currently impossible to run at 60fps using a current-generation Intel (we're assuming a Core i7 Skylake) CPU and a nearly top-of-the-line graphics card (no specifics provided, but they probably used a single graphics card).

Given that analysts are now predicting a holiday 2016 launch date for the NX, the only logical conclusion is that Nintendo is working with an established chip giant to design and create a highly specialized CPU and GPU combination that will outperform modern-generation hardware.

All of this sounds great, as long as the architecture is not too proprietary. We would hate to have a situation similar to N64, where Nintendo ships powerful hardware that underperforms under real-life conditions because extremely specialized hardware is too difficult to develop for and does not lend itself to easy porting of popular development frameworks out of the box. Either way, this will be a clear change from the Wii and Wii U generations, and we are looking for more details about what else the development kit includes.

I'm dying for a god damn modern Nintendo console because since the friggin gamecube era Nintendo been on some bullshyt with their hardware. Gamecube was just dreamy. It was like a mid-tier console close to Xbox at the time yet it still had amazing looking games and fun games to boot. I don't know why people have this notion that more powerful hardware results in worse games. That's backwards as hell. Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, Smash Bros Melee, RE4, F Zero GX, MGS Twin Snakes, Pikmin etc. all were VERY good games and they ran on the most cutting edge hardware at the time. The failure of gamecube wasn't due to this, it was due to other shyt like that dumb storage medium they used and the kiddy image they had.

I thought the real knock on nintendo 3rd party was that they always have peripherals and less power than Sony/MS so making ports for their consoles take time and aren't really viable
