Isn't Nintendo still making a profit year after year?

They ain't going anywhere

Yes and no. They had an operating profit for the first time in 4 years this year, but have continuously made a net profit. The company is extremely smart with their money

i'll be copping regardless of specs :yeshrug:I've enjoyed my wii-u and Nintendo's first party games despite having outdated technology. Nintendo focuses more on artwork, aesthetics and a fun experience so I'm not sure why people keep expecting/pushing for some mind blowing hardware that can host thecoli.com during the NBA finals.

The main thing Nintendo needs to focus on is the online functionalities (I don't think they even have a party chat system), a strong launch lineup and maybe a traditional controller. Backwards compatibility would be a huge selling point for ppl who passed up on the wii-u as well.

Nintendo need to release some hardware thats at least in the ball park of current gen, it deters other publishers from putting games on their platform, like theres no reason i shouldnt have gotten a mid-low budget tittle like Transformers Devastation on the Wii U, especially considering the install base has a "kiddy" crowd that would be into Transformers (hell we had a splatfest in Splatoon that Autobots vs Decepticons)
If backwards compatibility creates a road block for them or increases the price of the console to an unattractive price point they need to let that go. If nikkas wanna play wii u games they better cop one for the low :camby: . PS4's success proves the mass market doesnt care about backwards compatibility anyways.

hardware to support 3rd party games mean nothing if the online play isn't up to par with ps4/5 or xbox and you really think ppl are gonna buy COD, GTA or Fallout on Nintendo over sony, Microsoft or PC? :comeon:

BC is important for the short term. it shows that you put the consumers first and gives them a reason to pick it up. if Nintendo wanna get back in the graces of gamers then it's what they have to do (remember when Microsoft announced BC at E3? the audience gave a big applause and gaming websites were raving about it). now obviously if that means a big price increase then they should hold off on that. sony tried adding BC through their playstation now or whatever and it bombed so it's not completely abandoned which is why they're releasing all of these remakes shortly after they were released.

I think Nintendo has to focus more on their operating system and will probably further integrate the handheld and console (maybe have them both run the same OS/software with a tuned up ecosystem?).

That's why I said the NX being powerful doesnt matter.
But the gamecube also got several titles BECAUSE it was powerful.
I had a gamecube exclusively for nearly that entire generation.
I wouldn't have been able to play prince of persia, splinter cell, and other multiplatform
games if Nintendo gimped the hardware like they did with the Wii/Wii U
I was practically starving for content on the Wii when Mass Effect/Dead Space/Assassin's Creed etc.
were dropping on ps360 (I had a 360 at the time but don't miss the point I'm making here...)

So power does indeed matter, if the next Nintendo console is in line with ps4/xbone, I wouldn't be surprised
if it got multiplatform titles.
That's because a lot of third party versions on the gamecube were inferior in some aspects to the other versions i.e. One less button due to the way GC's controller was made, cut content because of space issues, late ports etc.
This.

The gamecube's issue wasn't "power" it was STORAGE. An issue that carried over from the n64 !
When Sony had CD's, Nintendo has cartridges.
When Sony had DVD's, Nintendo had minidiscs.
It almost feels as if they gimp themselves on purpose at times.

Despite that though, the gamecube was a fantastic machine and one
I was proud to own.

Old Brooklyn
Is this another thread with posters thinking they know better than a 100+ year old company?

:mjlol:
The...posters in this thread represent various sections of the consumer market...

So... Much like Kodak...it's possible the consumers opinion might be valuable breh.

No disrespect to your passive aggression. :ld:

Wait...in my response does that make me passive aggressive now??!

I'm not buying a Wii U 2/NX or whatever unless they have at least a 6-core processor and their GPU can do terastacks on top of stacks and I ain't taking tennis, ya dig? Nintendo seriously needs to get with the times and have powerful hardware if they want to win the console race. Nobody cares about the games. It's all about the hardware, baby.

They need to turn Splatoon 2 into a military-themed FPS also. I played the first game at my cousin's boyfriend's house for a few minutes. It was fun but who cares? It couldn't even do 1080p and 60 FPS. That's all I care about. That's the only thing that's important to me as a gamer. I immediately throw a game in the bushes if it can't even do that. The fukk is wrong with Nintendo?
