Tomorrow, April 1, there'll be a Nintendo Direct at 6 pm Eastern time, containing updates about the company's upcoming Wii U and 3DS titles, followed by a short Nintendo Treehouse special on one of its spring 2015 releases. Ignore the date, Nintendo says this one's no joke!

Here’s All the News From April’s Nintendo Direct

All of our coverage in one convenient place. Jose OteroThe April Nintendo Direct of 2015 lifted the veil on the company’s immediate plans. Now, there’s a few things to be excited about from today’s announcements, but keep your expectations in check! Nothing in this presentation comes close to curing the heartbreak of Zelda Wii U’s recent delay. Alas, we have to wait for E3 2015 to (hopefully) cure that wound.
But there are some great updates coming to Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8. And Nintendo 64 and DS games finally come to Wii U Virtual Console. With so much news, however, we thought it best to wrap-up everything that happened in one helpful place.
Smash Bros. Updates
Nintendo released price and date details for a bunch of Smash Bros. DLC. First, Mewtwo joins the battle on April 15 for anyone who registered both versions of Smash Bros. with Club Nintendo. Anyone who missed out can purchase the character on April 28. Lucas, the scaredy-cat protagonist of Mother 3, will join the roster in June.

Nintendo also announced that Mii Fighter costumes would be coming to Smash Bros Wii U, 3DS as paid DLC. But here’s the big question: Whom do you want to see added to the lineup? Nintendo wants to know, and it has set up a program where fans can vote on the next Smash Bros. character.
The company also announced that Wave 4 of the Smash Bros. series would release in May, followed by subsequent waves in July and September.
Wii U Virtual Console Gets an Upgrade
Nintendo 64 and DS games will be added to the Wii U Virtual Console. Today, you can download Super Mario 64 and Yoshi’s Island DS for $9.99 USD each.
Other Game Updates
Nintendo gave some release updates for some of its upcoming software. It led off these announcements with Mario Maker, which will release in September. The adorable Yoshi’s Wolly World is coming this Fall, and it will have two modes of play. Splatoon will release on May 29, alongside a dedicated amiibo line. Nintendo also shed some light on Splatoon’s 1v1 mode, called Battle Dojo. Code Name STEAM is getting an update to speed up Enemy Turns. Puzzle & Dragons Z + Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition is getting a demo on April 30.
Fatal Frame Wii U is coming to the West this Fall. Nintendo is adding two new games to StreetPass Mii Plaza. Meanwhile, Fire Emblem will come to North America in 2016. You can take a look at all of the Indie Games shown during the Direct here. We also got our first look at Shin Megami X Fire Emblem.

All About Amiibo

Nintendo continues to double down on amiibo in 2015. The Japanese game maker’s toys-to-life product will see inclusion in Splatoon, as adorable yarn-made plush toys in Yoshi’s Wooly World, and as cards in a 3DS game called Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.

Nintendo’s NFC reader, an attachment for any existing customers who haven’t updated to the New Nintendo 3DS, will launch alongside the new Animal Crossing game this Fall. Wii U owners can look forward to amiibo Tap: Nintendo's Greatest Hits, a new application that will unlock 3-minute demos of classic NES and SNES games.
Mario Kart 8 DLC
Nintendo closed out its April Nintendo Direct presentation with an update on Mario Kart 8’s Animal Crossing DLC. The previously announced set, which includes new playable characters, karts, and courses, is revving up for release on April 23. A title update, released at the same time, will add more unlockable amiibo costumes.
Finally, Nintendo announced a special 200cc mode would be rolled out as part of the same update.
That's all for today's Nintendo Direct. Let us know what you think in the comments, and for more Nintendo coverage make sure to keep it right here on IGN.

What can they possibly show? I've played my Wii U literally once and that was trying out Smash. I've never bought a console and didn't play it at all, until this one.

...games that...they're releasing this year...?

Star Fox?
Splatoon?
Devil's Third?
Xenoblade X?
Fire Emblem: IF?
MegaTen x Fire Emblem?

I mean it ain't that deep. If you're only playing Smash and not everything else that released last year (Bayo 2, Captain Toad, Hyrule Musou, Donkey Kong), maybe you don't want a Wii-U.

or you know this is another one of them dismissal wii u got no gam bawww type of deals

Na, not saying it has no games but when the hell is Nintendo gonna switch up their formula? The only good thing about the console is the remote play or whatever. My wife plays it so I didn't waste my money I guess, but it just feels/looks like the same ol Nintendo shyt that's been coming out for 20 years (with updated graphics)

It's time for some Devil's Third footage and it'll determine if Itagaki is flat top status or not.

Bracing myself for disappointment. Nintendo announcing a new console pretty much is admission that they are already giving up on the wii u. There's some heavy hitters coming out within the next year but at this point it's too little too late imo
