Theres more cons than pros here. When i get more time ill write a more detailed post.
Heres what I liked:
Pros
- New console, finally, better specs. The specs don’t blow anyone away but this has more than enough to hold us down for the next 5 or so years. No device thats convenient to use is consistently giving us 4k 60+ fps until 2030 minimum so thisll do.
- I like the dock and its cooling system, maybe even have a minor gpu in there idk, good for longevity. The old dock was a piece of junk, in retrospect.
- The library of games on this will be excellent (in the future)
- Gameshare is a great feature that should make some of my christmases cheaper.
- Finally including features other systems have had for 20+ years (like game chat)
Cons
- Pricing pricing pricing. Games on this being more expensive than PS5 games is disrespectful, if i saw whoever made this decision id pull my dikk out and piss on them
Not to mention this is going to drive up the price ACROSS THE BOARD. Get ready for GTA6 to be $200. Dont get me started on the accessory pricing.
- Not supporting full backwards compatibility with upscaling/better performance means I wont be getting this on day 1. Theres so many switch 3rd party games that just need to have higher graphics settings/fps unlocked that will fail to be realized now because nintendo skimped out.
- Those new joycons look like they will fail. Ill give it 8 months before the magnets weaken and the mouse stops working/stick drift/what have you. That $80 (!!) pro controller is not going to be optional.
- The launch lineup for this is pathetic. One new game, some ports, and the promise of maybe 2/3 more as the year goes on. Zero reason to buy this on day 1.
- 3rd party games are supporting this now but they always do on year 1 of nintendo. Will they continue to do so on year 2, 3, 4, etc? Thats never been the case. So idk why they made them such a big area of focus for this direct
All in all..will i buy this? Of course. But itll be AWHILE. Theres just not enough here
