I guess the moral of the story is to not fukk with Nintendo. And here I thought they were a nice company. Damn

3 huge things are what lead to Sony crushing the buildings.
1 was obviously nintendo ending the deal with sony.
2nd and most importantly was the use of cds over cartridges. This was THE deciding factor and it ties into the 3rd reason.
The reason the use of cds over cartridge was this. Not only did nintendo make companies pay them to publish games on their console,but nintendo also manufactured the cartridges and charged for that as well. Developers were screaming for cds.
Sony came through and gave the studios what they wanted. Now nintendo was left with their dikk in their hand. Everybody had jumped ship to sony because they could manufacture on cds for dirt cheap and didnt have to live under Nintendo's thumb.
You notice how quick companies were to throw Nintendo in the bushes first chance they got? They never forgot what Nintendo on top was like.
Nintendos own hubris created their competition.
Thing is,any other company would have folded by now but you have to give nintendo props because they are brilliant and you can never count them out. Can you imagine how long xbox or playstation would be around with as little 3rd party support as Nintendo gets? Theyd fold in 1 gen and bow out from gaming.
Its actually interesting to see the ups and downs of gaming history and seeing these companies repeatedly shoot themselves in the foot because of their own hubris. Sony,nintendo,microsoft have all done it. Nintendos lead to sony and sonys lead to microsoft and microsofts lead right back to sony

At one point Nintendo accounted for 10% of wal marts sales. Think about that. Sega had to do crazy shyt to get their systems on store shelves because Nintendo wasstatus.
Hell,they were founded in 1889. They once ran a sex hotel. Theyve been linked to the yakuza for a very long time.

There's a difference between out of touch and basically attacking someone that did you a favor.
