Nintendo NX shipping Oct-Nov 2016

i really don't understand this obsession with 3rd party games for nintendo...when they got Bayonetta (one of the best action/adventure games recently) ppl still passed on the wii-u. you don't buy nintendo consoles for 3rd party (sony and microsoft is there for that) you buy it for the mario, zelda, donkey kong, pokemon and what not. it's more about the fun and social factor (check out splatoon). my biggest knock on the wii-u was no new zelda game (i don't count hyrule warrior), but i expect nintendo do correct that by releasing it during launch.

anyway, reports are saying NX-portable is coming out 2016 and the console partner device is coming 2017. so maybe the handheld will be 900p and it's rumored to be priced at 200$ makes me think the console will be 300-350$?

I have said it time and time again. Nintendo gambled and the Wii paid off in the short term, but did incredible damage to their brand with the older demographic of hardcore gamers. They might NEVER win them back as a result of the past 10 years of their home consoles...Think about that. A fukking DECADE has passed with the Wii name and this is where Nintendo is. I am still optimistic however, I am buying the Wii U when it drops down to $100 everywhere.

Nintendo has been getting a pass for way too long from the 25 year old + crowd. No real online strategy, no respectable third party support, even their flagship first party games come out with way too much time between each title. WiiU has been out for how long without a WiiU exclusive Zelda game? Where Metroid? Their controllers are a complete joke. I'm just as nostalgic as the next guy but I'm not immune to reality. Nintendo needs the casket lid dropped on it.

People are expecting GTA, NBA 2K, Madden, Elder Scrolls etc. on Nintendo console's like it's gonna move units on the thing. No one's gonna check GTA 6 on a Nintendo console when they can get it on other available platforms with a better install base.

I disagree. Some of the best games this gen and last gen were Nintendo games. The fact that a lot of people missed out on it Because the wiiu as a console was a flop is another argument. I love my Uncharteds and whatnot but a gaming gen without Mario, Zelda, Smash, Kart, Metroid and other Nintendo IPs is like the rap game with just trap and club bangers.

Nintendo games aren't the problem, it's their console and backwardness. The GC was arguably one of the best consoles Nintendo had. It has much better 3rd party support than other Nintendo consoles recently and that was due to the hardware. The only slight was their disc format. Had they had a standard DVD format, the GC would've been a serious contender that gen. The "kiddy " label hurt them.

The "gimmicks" are the problem, not Zelda or Metroid prime you crazy as hell. A console similar to PS4 except with the catalog from Nintendo franchises would be a MUCH better console compared to the too similar Xbox like this gen.

My man, I already said Nintendo has some untouchable classics in their catalogue. But Nintendo as a company sucks and their bad choices console gen after console gen have been inexcusable. Cats really bought a Wii U because "They gon drop a CLASSIC Zelda on this joint one day. I JUST KNOW IT!" Nintendo is going down the same exact path Sega did. In the end they should do as Sega did as well. Back out of the console game, and license out their franchises to the companies that are fully committed to making high quality video games and video game consoles.

Basically, the console is nearly 3 years old and has 8 games worth getting. Not only that, look at the pacing they have. One game a year? Really? Oh but then in 2014 they finally got their stuff together and drop 3 games worth getting that year. How about the fact that not a single game worth getting is a new IP (edit: Splatoon is the only new IP they have worth anything). Cats have been begging Sony to allow them to change their gamertags. How about Nintendo and their friend codes? What's that online functionality like? Again, they got FIRE games, but what is that worth if the company and the consoles are TRASH? I'll say it again. Remember Sega. No you don't NEED a lot of third party support, but if you are going to rely solely on your first party games then you have to release way more of them way more often. Lets be real here. Stop blindly sticking up for Nintendo, when you know full well you aren't even playing any Nintendo consoles anyway to begin with.
Its a good companion console. With some solid games, but nothing here is making me salivate over Nintendo's next underpowered console.

No...they're not. The Wii U flopping is not hurting Nintendo. Them Nikkaz got bank. They've been "doomed" for over a decade a now. They're not going anywhere.

I'm not familiar with Nintendo's financial situation. I'm speaking from the viewpoint of a serious video gamer. Nintendo has been barely hanging on to third place for too long. It's cool to keep up with the news and speak on it, but this whole back and forth started because I basically said I don't trust Nintendo anymore due to their poor decisions. That's all I was saying. If you guys are hype for this new Nintenflop then cool. But come winter 2017 when your WiiU.5 is collecting dust remember this conversation.

I don't disagree with the software drought then again hearing they're going for a android like approach where both NX hardware will share libraries so that would mean every game would ultimately be on the console.

You still gotta have the option and it still has to play like the PS4/XB1 versions. Remember those big head Wii verions of games that came out? shyt was embarrassing. And instead of making the next gen system significantly more powerful, they went even more niche and added handheld capability to the WiiU. Nobody asked for that on a console...thats what the 3DS is supposed to be for.

They would be behind the others in 3rd party sales, but if Nintendo has everything they do in addition to the 1st party heat, how could you say someone went wrong in buying the system?

Breh I know we agree on this. You are just being more defensive about this then you should be. Don't discredit my list. You know how that goes, I can't possibly remember every single detail, but you get my point. The drought is real and that's the point. You take the drought, plus the whack hardware and whack online functionality and you get a console that can easily be skipped. Breh, these are the people that gave me Metal Gear .... Metal Gear.... If anyone doesn't want to see it go down like this is me. But I've seen this company take L after L and it's time for them to bounce IMO. You'll have to excuse me if Im not for Nintendo anymore. I'm not coming from a stan POV. There's hard facts to why I feel the way I feel.

DC failed because of piracy and because of the PS2. They were losing money and then were forced to cut costs that didn't work.

Saying Nintendo is going the same route is laughable. They sold 21 million GC compared to 24 million xboxes, sold over 100 million Wiis but because the Wii U flopped, Nintendo is about to go bankrupt and go third party. 150 million DSs sold but Nintendo is doomed. Lol.

Plus, word is that only a few selected western 3rd parties have NX dev kit's and two major publishers (one likely to be EA) have yet to receive them.
