every Nintendo home console excluding the Wii has sold worse than the console that proceed it. that means from the NES to the SNES sales went down. they went down again from the SNES to the N64 and again from the N64 to the Gamecube. Nintendo hit a home run on the fad Wii and now things have gone back to normal with the Wii U on a trajectory to do worse than even the Gamecube did. the trend has only now reached a point where everyone is paying attention to it because the Wii U sales are so low but they've been headed in this direction for a while.

"Must have software?" what like Wii Sports or Wii Fit? because the staple Nintendo franchises aren't must have software anymore. they can make Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong games all they want and the results will still be the same. people are growing apathetic to those games. the reason the sales numbers are so inflated on a lot of them is because they were bundled with systems for free. Must have software is now something like GTA V in the current market and less like The Legend of Zelda.

all things considered 3DS, Wii U, Software for each Nintendo will post a loss of $240 million for this fiscal year a fiscal year that a major home console Mario title was released in a fiscal year that a major Pokemon title was released in. a fiscal year that Animal Crossing was released in.

Of course they projected a loss. They expected to sell 9 million Wii U's, they'll only sell like 3 million. If you sell six million consoles less than projected, the money you lose on the hardware isn't gonna be rectified by the money they make on software. It's because of games like Pokemon that the loss isn't a lot higher, considering that once again, they'll sell SIX MILLION consoles less than expected. Do the math on that one and think about how much money they would be losing if they didn't made make so much money of the games.

Look, nintendo turned its back on consumers since the N64. The reason they didn't rock with the SNES-CD which later turned into the sony Playstation. Do you know the reason?
Well sir, the SNES-CD used CD's and nintendo was content raping publishers for the use of the nintendo Cartridges.
That was the deal breaker. They wanted to pimp game companies who then would pimp us. I paied $79.99 for Street Fighter II SNES
Lots of 3rd party companies couldn't afford nintendo, while sony was offering cheaper ways with no strings attached.
No Nintendo type censoring/etc. Cheaper development, so all the 3rd party games went there instead of nintendo.

Wii comes out, they block DVD playback to save bread, they abandon next gen altogether and try to sell a Wii-system that is comparable in power to the gamecube it released before it. And was even trying to resell the exact same games, THIS TIME WITH WII CONTROLS!!!

Nintendo stopped giving a fukk a looooooong time ago. Only reason it survived at all was because of its Stapled Franchises.
All of them have been milked to death. And while this new mario is the first attempt at a truly new mario i a long time.. its too little too late. Knack outsold it. If that doesn't register in your head.. KNACK outsold a mario game that is STELLAR.

And the push to have every console game to be a graphic marvel has lead to some of the best development studios being forced to close their doors. A few studios hit big with their AAA titles and all the others try to do the same when its just not feesible. So now every game is either AAA or indie, there's no in between, that's what's hurting the industry. If more devs had have went along with Nintendos lower cost higher gameplay focused development the industry would have been far more healthy. But the industry has changed and Nintendo didn't. That's why I think it's foolish to say they turned their backs on gamers. Did they fail to adapt? sure. But did they betray gamers? I don't think so, times just changed

So far away? You guys understand they dropped projected sales of the Wii U from 9 million to 2.6 million. Yeah, the 3DS is selling, but those sales are even decreasing. They sold the most systems last year, but it was the fewest by a sales leader EVER. Nintendo aint got shyt nowadays except the handheld game, and with all the kids playing on their kindle fires and ipads nowadays, that shyts bout to dry up too. fukk will Nintendo have then? The only reason why 3rd party companies do so is because "casual" gamers want games to use super high graphical capabilities that the PS4 and X One boast about having.

Nintendo has been a cacs only company since Nintendo 64. They still make a couple good games but no one's about to buy the system for them with no Call of Duty or 2K or GTA, except for CAC parents buying it for their kids.
