The Nintendo Switch Is Sold Out Everywhere Thanks To The Coronavirus

Toilet paper isn’t the only thing selling out during the coronavirus lockdown.

Along with flour, canned food, ramen and peanut butter, the Nintendo Switch is nowhere to be found—unless you’re willing to pay extortionary sums to get hold of one.

This is mostly due to the virus’s impact on Chinese manufacturing and supply lines. It probably doesn’t help that more and more people are taking up gaming as they enter extended quarantines and “social distancing” measures keep people from other forms of entertainment.

Amazon is sold out of the Nintendo Switch. Purchasing from third-party sellers is still possible, but it will cost you dearly:

As you can see, sellers are gouging customers at this point. Scarcity drives up prices, of course, but there’s no justification for charging over $130 on top of the Switch’s MSRP of $299.99. Certainly you should not buy one for this price. Just wait it out. If you can live without toilet paper you can live without a Switch.

The console is also sold out at GameStop, Best Buy and elsewhere.

Another option is to purchase a Nintendo Switch Lite. In many ways, I actually prefer this console to its big brother. It’s more compact and portable. The Joy-Cons don’t detach, but that also means it feels a bit more solid since it’s one piece.

These are also sold out, but Amazon’s third-party sellers are only bumping the price by $20 to $30 rather than over $100, which is much more reasonable. And there are some available at MSRP from Best Buy.

I’ll see if I can scrounge up some other buying options for a separate piece, so stay posted. And stay safe, dear readers. Wash your hands. Play video games. Practice social distancing and help save lives and not overburden our healthcare workers who are on the front lines of this horrible crisis.

Day 1 Switch and Switch Lite owner.:blessed:The last console.
Think it might be my last one too. At this point with all of my older consoles / emulators I already have too much stockpiled and limited time when I’m working

It might be the GOAT console too when it’s all said and done for me. Between games and execution of tv/portable this thing is like what the 6 year old me would’ve dreamed up playing my old NES

There are tons of them on sale on eBay by very reputable sellers at retail price.
What are you taking about?

Nah its cause of animal crossing dropping :win:
Breh. I’ve never played another Animal Crossing even when I had a GameCube in HS and it was getting a lot of praise.

Haven’t played a life simulator since the original Sims on PC.

Current gen consoles, I’ve loved the FromSoftware games which to me exist on the completely opposite end of the gaming spectrum (come get dealt with :demonic:)

I haven’t woken up with an excitement to turn on a gaming console first thing in the morning since probably college with RE4.

This morning I contemplated getting up and doing my normal shower brush teeth routine. Then I remembered:

My house would be ready this morning and the Owl from the museum would be dropping by.

I got up, took a stretch, picked up my switch case and went right back to my bed going in search of dinosaur fossils :win:

This game is going to own my life :wtf:

People still wanna buy that shyt???:picard::mjlol:

People have nowhere to go. In the GameStop thread, I mentioned that people on other forums I post on write that they purchased systems to help pass the time. Perfect opportunity to move hardware that otherwise wasn't selling before.
