Eh I really think they’re serious. there were a lot of reputable sources confirming an upgraded switch
I still think nintendo has it ready but they don’t want to release it because of the chip shortage so they released this model so the original switch gets discontinued and they can still sell this one at a higher markup

this is what I’m leaning toward

That’s possible. My thing is through all of that, how did this model not come up at least once. All of that talk about 4K, DLSS, better chipset etc., and you miss the simplest model. I’m not buying it.
They’re indeed insiders, but they’re not good insiders. It seems like they care more about having their names around Twitter than verifying their sources.

The Pro is clearly still coming in 2022. This is a stopgap. All the recent leaks suggested the pro wouldn't be out until next year.

Nintendo has no pressure or incentive to release more powerful hardware and cannibalize their existing base. They aren't competing with Sony and Microsoft, and the Switch is doing more than fine in sales still. They can wait a few years until the sales slow up, and drop it then. Don't see why people are surprised by this. It's smart business

‘this very well could be the same pro model that was supposed to release. They just gutted it once they found out they couldn’t order enough chips to make it worthwhile.

Sony is involved in a technology arms-race that Nintendo could care less about. They're re-releasing games from their back catalog at full price and selling like hot cakes

After all the Switch Pro hype, Nintendo came with the bare minimum. I'll wait for the real upgrade.

I’m honestly not even sure what makes this worth 50 more dollars outside of differentiating itself from the og model to casuals this is the lightest refresh and it’s been 5 years of tech since
