I never really gave his music a listen either. It was on my to-do-list, but I definately plan on supporting dude now. Made me a fan off the interview alone.

At the beginning of mean streets
To clarify, that list was based on artists we really fukk with who may not have had the output we wished they had. It was a critical opinion. We weren’t trying to bring anybody down.

"Number one, who is an editor to have an opinion on a street nikka? Bottom line. Those editors don’t live this life. They don’t go through the struggle. I’m from the Rolling 60's my nikka. They don’t understand what putting an album out is to me. It ain’t the same as one of them backpack nikkas, or one of them college-rapping types. That ain’t the shyt I do. I got enemies. I went to war for real in between albums. My life is real. So when I hear about an editor asking: What’s up with my output? I’m like: What’s up with you even commenting on my life? nikkas don’t know my life. That’s the bourgeoisie approach that I get offended by because this ain’t no bubble. This ain’t no vacuum we doing this music out of. That’s why people connect to the pain in it. Because it’s real. That’s the part they should respect. These radio hits, these charts, they don’t validate the truth and the message. That’s when I start to be like, “Okay, you ain’t got a record on radio. You ain’t put an album out officially, so you’re an underachiever.”

Probably the reallest sh!t I've ever heard from a rapper not on a song.

By editors he means old ass Jewish cacs that shouldn't even have a mouth piece in this industry to begin with. And it's not even limited to editors it's fans and nikkas in the industry that think they have some kind of say so or they better than someone because they have hits and have sold records. It's a part of the culture to brag about that. Plus, if you check out other shyt he said he even called out Wayne and Jim Jones for reppin bloods. Nipsey might be the last of a dying breed.

Shout out to Nipsey though I ain't know he was Habesha/AA too. :leon::myman:

Y'all still gonna go on Complex when a new list/article comes out just to :pacspit: but they will sit back like :troll:

I mean shyt they are :troll: Nipsey right now with this interview...

It works both ways and is mutually beneficial in this instance at least...an interview like this will endure him to his fans and plays up the "fukk the industry, I'm an independent kindred spirit" thing that makes fans feel invested enough to do sh!t like pay $100 for a free mixtape...this is the best type of promotion for his current movement as you can get...perfectly executed

We need this...these guys are way too comfortable. Its like Ol Dirty having a deal and still have his food stamp card, these guys are acting like music is made in a bubble. This is why they like the shallow shiit from 35 year old rappers from the ATL.

It was like a bougie stance from where they’re writing from. That’s what I took offense to. I see a lot of that in our culture right now. This shyt came from the streets. This shyt came from the people. This shyt came from the struggle.

i was waiting for something more profound than the regular 'real nikkas vs the fake industry' rants frustrated rappers specialize in and it never came.

me too, he didnt say a damn thing just like his music

talking about shifting culture, mafukka Tech N9ne started a label from scratch. you aint doing anything new except put a stupid $100 tag on an album which Daz did 2 years ago (and his shyt came with a scale)
