this is no different than any "purist" argument that goes on in all types of music.
the talent hates the critics and say critics dont matter etc...

nothing to see here.

Shine a light on new talent & critique the quality of the music. It's different when you shyt on artists for not becoming as commercially successful as you think they should or for not buzzing at the moment like they were a year ago. That's the BS of the genre being criticized here. It's one thing for us to gossip like that on the Coli, but professional publications that care about art and are trying to promote the best artists out there shouldn't be part of that game. That's for outsiders and gimmick seekers. Now if your just a cac magazine that gives no fukks about hip-hop deep down, then cool. We can take your opinion with a grain of salt at that point.

Because you gotta know when to strategically play the game, too. You can't ever escape the game when you're a recording artist who's in it to make money as well as quality music...He's always gonna be embedded in it. And I don't think he's trying to escape it...just play it on his own terms as much as possible.
Then whatever Nipsey is frustrated over is on him. Cause its not like other gangsta rappers havent successfully played both sides of the fence.

And also theres always been bullshyt in the industry. It has taken different forms over the years.. but the only era in hip hop that was bullshyt free was the 70s :bryan:

GZA had an entire song criticizing shiesty record execs

He said all the right things. Plus she showed n proved with convincing nikkas to pay $100 on a mixtape.

Betting the house on himself and winning big and representing himself correctly with no intervention for the jew bosses of the old regime

man rappers are too intimidated by the hipster presence in hip hop.. publications like Pitchfork arent fortune 500.

But will that lead to people buying the music? Marketing is a big piece of it. Even his anti-establishment hustle is a marketing plan.
That's the point though. He is marketing his product so he should eat from it. Not anyone else.

Number one, who is an editor to have an opinion on a street nikka? Bottom line. Those editors don’t live this life. They don’t go through the struggle. I’m from the Rolling 60's my nikka. They don’t understand what putting an album out is to me.

MUUUUUUUHfukkN SALUTE TO THE HOMIE NIPSEY

get em!

The Marathon is probably considered his best overall project(some may differ after this tape). A more mature Nipsey speaking on life experience and his grind. Some dope authentic motivational shyt, but also g.

Bullets Aint Got No Names Vol 1. Is a young nikka just spitting raw about that gang lifestyle from his perspective. Some raw & dope shyt. Probably the tape that's he's spittin the most on.
Bullets Aint Got No Names Vol 3. Is like a traditonal Cali gangsta rap album. Alot dope bangers, anthems & westcoast sounding music. Nip came into his own on some song making shyt.

Crenshaw got a mix of everything on it. Maybe musically his best project, but he was more laid back with his rhymes for the most part also. shyt is so dope though.

I'd check out Bullets Vol. 1 and then the Marathon and then Crenshaw if you in the mood to dig deep into his catalog.

see this's what I don't like about these so-called street rappers, just because you lived the life, it doesn't make you better (or worse) rapper. You shouldn't get a special treatment because you from the rolling 60s. At the end of the day, the only reason I heard about you is because you make rap records.
