If that's what its about that pretty much makes it independent vs major imo. How many of these dudes got the kinda stats where they can walk into a major and prove they can SELL a bunch of albums to where they can demand ownership?

his point is that it took him 10 years to get to that level!

"get on ya grind my nikka" could literally be nipsey's full name....the whole point is that rappers need to stop bullshytting and step up their business IQ

on the street they wouldn't be satisfied with a nick...so why the fukk when they own the product they tryna give it away for free??? stop settling for small fortunes. he's tryna tell these nikkas if you were already rich off street money, then WHY are you fiending for corporate money when its gonna leave you in debt???

"We can criticize a street nikka, but we can’t be aware of the mindfukk that’s going on with these corporations and these motherfukkin’ giants. It’s a problem that Nip still values his product at $100—I get backlash from our culture. From the nikkas that look like me. Most of these nikkas rap for their damn selves. But when nikkas go into the mall and buy $600 iPhones—and everybody’s got an iPhone—and stand in line for $1,000 shoes, and pay $5 a gallon for gas. That’s why I’m mad. That’s my objective and nikkas gotta wake up. It’s a misinformed critique."

"who is an editor to have an opinion on a street nikka? Bottom line. Those editors don’t live this life. They don’t go through the struggle. I’m from the Rolling 60's my nikka."

:comeon:

see this's what I don't like about these so-called street rappers, just because you lived the life, it doesn't make you better (or worse) rapper. You shouldn't get a special treatment because you from the rolling 60s. At the end of the day, the only reason I heard about you is because you make rap records.

get the fukk outta here my nikka

he's saying he EMBODIES the TRUE culture of hip hop. these editors just push a synthetic version of what the think hip hop culture is when theyre not even comfortable in the surroundings where hip hop is actually loved and played

I don't even use this word. but you're 100% a cac if you can't relate to this entire article.

:obama: nipsey a real nikka for this

Very few people are calling out these industry types out like they did back in the 90's, everyone is hugs and kisses.

I've seen the value system change the past 10 years, but you can't say anything because the fans don't care about the music, they only care about gossip.

Nipsey is real af but lets face it.. he wasnt speaking out about this 5 years ago

We can complain about the hipster appropriation of culture all day.. but really its just more bullshyt that hip hop artists have to navigate through. these editors dont hold any real weight

The Marathon is probably considered his best overall project(some may differ after this tape). A more mature Nipsey speaking on life experience and his grind. Some dope authentic motivational shyt, but also g.

Bullets Aint Got No Names Vol 1. Is a young nikka just spitting raw about that gang lifestyle from his perspective. Some raw & dope shyt. Probably the tape that's he's spittin the most on.
Bullets Aint Got No Names Vol 3. Is like a traditonal Cali gangsta rap album. Alot dope bangers, anthems & westcoast sounding music. Nip came into his own on some song making shyt.

Crenshaw got a mix of everything on it. Maybe musically his best project, but he was more laid back with his rhymes for the most part also. shyt is so dope though.

I'd check out Bullets Vol. 1 and then the Marathon and then Crenshaw if you in the mood to dig deep into his catalog.
Preciate that :salute:
