I was a youngster at the time but none of my older cousins or older cats in my hood fukked with them. If a white dude wasn't hip hop, r & b, jazz or reggae they got no burn around my way.

From what I read Kurt was frustrated with trying to make a grunge sounding album due to label pressure...and he half assed the lyrics .
Fast forward a few years and you have people trying to decipher some of his songs that he wrote lyrics to like minutes before he got to the studio

Kurt really knew who to write great catchy songs....half bullshyt, and half realness in the lyrics and it worked, and he kept it Punk. If you want longer solos,and more complex arrangements,that is what AIC,SoundGarden,Pearl Jam are for.
That is why the grunge label was such bs
all those Seattle bands have a total different sound.Also..
