The thing I never get about Kroger is I'll see multiple employees walking around the store, yet by the time you get to check out it's just two cashiers and 8 empty aisles. I'm not gonna say the employees walking around aren't doing anything, I get they have other obligations and are definitely doing stuff. It's just weird how the store deliberately creates long lines. When I first noticed this, the self check-out areas would be wide open so you could easily use that. But now people are using self check-out more often so there's a long line there too.

More non skilled entry jobs lost. A large portion of people first employment was in retail at some cash point. Think about that. Where do teens start in the future. Working after college? Just because we can doesn't mean we should automate everything. This capitalistic push for profits is very blindsided because ultimately we are already seeing that their consumers are less to afford their goods. Stealing groceries is ticking up. Cost of the goods is up. What can possibly go wrong.

I HATE Kroger for this reason. you spend more time in line trying to check out than doing your shopping

I don’t like this shyt either, I hate seeing jobs get phased out and replaced.

When I was a kid, my first job was a grocery store.

As a 16 year old, I wanted to work and I needed to work.

There are a lot of bad ass kids out there that need money and do bad shyt. But there’s always a lot of good kids too.

If companies start taking jobs from the youth….. they gonna hurt their development

I guess this is what the people want. Why are we giving our to greedy corporations. They know we will just sit back and take anything. Don't visit that Kroger and send them a message. If Honda and Toyota wanna sell cars forn 10k over MSRP don't buy them cars. Buying a homenforn100k over asking and waive inspection, dumb shyt. Consumers hold the real power yet we're giving it up.

You need a mix.

Self checkout is good for people that bought a handful of items...maybe bread, juice, eggs etc. If you're buying $200 worth of groceries for the family....a cashier is gonna be soooooo much faster unless you have experience as a cashier from your younger days.

I like stores with both. Super Target, Sprouts and Tom Thumb near me have it.

Walmart added it but they honestly had too many employees walking around doing nothing. You got 10 booths but only 3 were open and I'm watching about 5 or 6 employees just standing and literally watching people wait in line.

Current Kroger employee. Those employees are from other departments. Most times they are not trained to be relief help and their department heads throw a fit when their clerks are up front. Kroger's system will tell you you have only so many casheirs supposed to be scheduled at any time. So when there's only two or three people that's because that's all the front end is allotted. Oh and one of our bonus incentives is based on front end friendly and wait time

My first job was pushing carts at meijers and being the service runner for cashier's ... Now they might have 1 or 2 lines open and the rest is self checkout. Saving all this money yet nothing is cheaper

The most overrated grocery store of all time…. Publix has a few shelf products that you can’t find at other grocery stores…. but their butcher dept. is mid as fukk….
their meat is always fresh and firm :dame:

produce is juicy and ripe for the bite :dame:

and the bakery's buns are always soft and pillowly :dame:
