Irrelevant stat given the lack of major releases. Drake decided to drop an album late last year instead of this year. If he had dropped this year we'd be having a different conversation.

The biggest names dropped last year. The remaining big names, like Cole, haven't dropped this year yet. Given that the charts are still full of rap music I see no reason to harp on this.

So we basically relying on drake, kendrick, cole to continue being the only mainstream rappers that can put up a number 1, and thats not a problem?

crazy that 93 was the last time it happened. i had to look and rap was stuck in 2nd place because of whitney and janet and some more rnb. the songs at the top of the charts back then was legit classic rap and rnb. rap and rnb aint making classics no more.

imma be a hater and blame drake because he was at the top and none of his shyt is classic but everybody copied him and now we dont have people making shyt that would be considered classics and deserving of the 1 spot.

ps: muthafukk billboard and tha editor...

Before the :flabbynsick: come in here whining about the culture

Yall dont support the real. This is partially yall fault. The youth and the taste makers. It's way bigger than "no one makes good music anymore"

Yall don't appreciate the good music that's made. That's why it's not broadcasted. That's why the artists who make bullshyt make it

"I could rhyme like Common Sense......."

This JID record is everything yall say isn't in the mainstream anymore. One of the many quality albums that came out in the past year. How come it didn't go Gold?
:jbhmm:

Exactly
:unimpressed:

Breh, JID, Mavi, and for the real obscure brehs even Navy Blue dropped this year

They each have a different style and really be RAPPING but clearly folks don’t fw it like that. Numbers don’t lie

It's like when women say they want a good guy

"These rappers are talented but......"

Then they hear a trash song on the radio and say the whole genre is dead

Is it Oochie Wally or One Mic

Radio dead now apparently. Radio made a bunch of the stars back in the day. People are making troll rap now and getting all they can before they fall off

I didn't say that. Future had a #1 album last year. Rod Wave had a #1. Durk had a #1. Gunna had a #1. Metro Boomin had a #1. Pusha T had a #1. Khaled had a #1. Kendrick had a #1. Drake had two #1 albums. The point is that multiple big artists released rap albums last year and that hasn't been the case this year.

By the end of the year Cole will have a #1. Future is probably dropping again and will have another #1. Drake prob drops again. Cardi might drop. There will be multiple #1 rap albums. And more importantly rap will remain the most streamed, most dominant genre lol. So nothing has changed.

Legit classics bruh lol. Even in 2003. Then it started to fall off around 09 and got really Pop heavy. R&B ain't been the same since.

theres really just no room for actual artistic expression with the shyt out these days

shyt is either extremely raunchy or talking about murder, people want shyt to put on at a cookout or function
Rap has always been this
