I agree with you...and I always like your posts...but what is "good" or "quality"?
If someone is providing a piece of art that isn't wanted/accepted by the consumers at large...while someone else's works of art are...how do we quantify which is good and which is "bullshyt" considering Art is a real "in the eye of the beholder", subjective thing? Tbh, the art that is more revered and "hot" has a better argument for being "good" than the art that the public isn't interested in, in terms of arguing its case.
But yeah...hip hop may not have reached #1 but has it reached #2-5?? Or even #2-10?? If so then this is nothing to overreact about, lol.

It took quite a while for the Ls to find him. But they did.
Hip Hop doesn't work out. It drinks and does drugs. It eats like crap. And now it's losing its top spot.

Art is substantive, musically. It takes time. It isn't oversaturated. You get something out of it. You can listen to it over time and it doesn't get old quicky
With that being said, there's music for everyone. The "trash" music is the fast food music. There's filet mignon bubbling below Billboard
Looking at other genres, their popular music has subject matter. Subject matter that is diverse
Heartbreak, relationships, self-confidence, LIFE. The popular maintream rap music is drugs, sex, and violence. That's it. And this isn't even the core problem. This is what they promote. And nikkas listen to it non stop. The cycle repeats. They eat it up every time
That subject matter in mainstream hip hop wont make it No1 on the charts anymore

To be half over and not have any is a flop, not like years only have one hip hop record or album go #1, there’s usually multiple.
But this shows the limited reach of these “new stars”. Durk and Youngboy been crowned for the new generation and can’t reach beyond their niche of listeners. Gonna take the vets who dropped last year to get them #1’s again
Youngboy isn’t going to reach #1 because of his output and audience
Durk never had a #1 before why would he be expected to get one with J Cole?

That JID album is top 3 Album of last year for me...but keeping it real there is no number 1 song potential off that.
