No more Throwback At Noon

My man told me Hot is no londer doing the throwback at noon. He hit Karlie Hustle (music director of Hot97) up on twitter to ask why and she said the ratings, from the PPM meter, wasn't holding strong with the show anymore. So now Mr. Cee is just playing current songs with 1 or 2 old school joints in between at noon Then seeing the backlash, Ebro went on twitter and said, "Fight for what you want! You see shows like this slipping then fight for it then. Show support to what you so call love" I guess in regards to the ratings drop as the cause to ending the throwback at noon format. Be it as it may, its disgraceful. Throwback At Noon was really the only time I would listen to radio nowadays. Mr. Cee responded on his instagram and said to the listeners that he was sorry and it was out of his control. And if we had complaints, let Hot97 managment know smh First they got rid of Kiss FM last year, now the Old School At Noon? NY radio is beyond dead right now

I was listening today and I knew that's what happened without even looking too deep into it. That show is the only reason why I tune in to that station. That fukking show was only one mother fukking hour long. Thank you for passing the message along! That nikka Ebro....

The thing with me is any other Hip Hop station(s), in other markets, can have an "Old School At Noon" but not in the #1 market New York? Ratings drop or not, it's extremely pitiful! Old School (or Throwback) At Noon is a landmark show in NY. I remember when Afrika Bambaata use to host the original Old School At Noon on Hot 97 back in the mid 90's. I really hope their ratings drop to new lows because of this.

They play the same shyt almost every fukking minute, except for 2pm and kay slay's show (which I havent listened to in a while) when they play exclusives. It definitely makes what I decide to do at that time much easier.

satellite radio has some repetitiveness no doubt, but its so far ahead of local radio


many days of the week you got shows like tony touch's show, premier's show, statik's show which i think is the best, green lantern, envy, sway in the morning and all out show 5 days a week, and more like kay slay and whoo kid




im not saying satellite is the wave, because it isnt that accessible and even i get tired of it from time to time (and it can get expensive but they keep asking me to re-up on these pretty cheap deals). but commercial free is so key

yea, black people across genres are throwing away the old. that's fukked up that they can't do a 1-hour throwback, after seeing a thread not too far down on here about a dude who just found out about new edition at the age of 24, you gotta recognize that shows like that are important for frame of reference. and the shyt my parents grew up listening to, all the 60's-80's oldies i enjoy, that shyt is really no where to be found, we're really about to lose a huge chunk of black history cuz these corporations.

I dont listen to the radio but this nikka who sits in ear shot of me plays his nonstop.........the last time he left his radio running that one Rihanna song, pour it up, played no less then 5 times in a 2 hour span.................

that's pretty much what everyone in this thread said, they play garbage or the same shyt all the time, the throwback hour is when all the dope shyt was played or when there was variety.

secondly, turning off the radio and not demanding a better blend throughout the day is what allows corporations to continue to play the same 25 songs over and over

If everyone is aware they play garbage/the same shyt all the time that implies that everyone has their radios on listening to that garbage/same shyt ALL THE TIME. Also, if the throwback hour was as universally dope as you claim the rating wouldnt be an issue. But they are an issue, which means that alot of people dont share your view on its dopeness.

How are you demanding a better blend by keeping the radio on, Tweeting your displeasure to the station? Emailing them? lol

The only thing these radio execs are concerned about is the ratings......ppms.....whatever the f they are called. If you have your radio on, wether you like whats being played or not, you are increasing that stations ratings (I.e. encourging them to continue). If you dont like whats being played........TURN YOUR RADIO OFF.

Keeping your radio on and demanding a better blend WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. Turning your radio's off will. Turning your radios off AND then Demanding a better blend (to get your support back) will not only change things......it will also provide the executives with direction on what specific changes need to be made to get your support back........Whats so hard to comprehend about that?

The main problem is these people know their audience consists mostly of a bunch of undiscplined, unprincpled people who will accept whatever they are given, willingly or not

So the solution is simple, you want to change whats being played, stop contributing your ratings to that station.

My main issue in relation to this thread is with the music being segragated at all......................there shouldnt even be a throwback hour. If the music is good its good.....and good music should be played througout the day.
