Just because the new generation are retards doesn't mean the 90's are irrelevant

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what’s at the root of his electrifying play, but his newly-discovered taste in music might offer us some clues. Murray, who is just 23, has apparently arrived at the ’90s hip-hop portion of his musical education journey, thanks in part to Carmelo Anthony, who has introduced him to the many joys and wonders of old-school rap.

“Sometimes when I go back and if I’m getting a haircut, a lot of guys say, “[Car]melo [Anthony] likes to listen to a lot of the old music, most music,” he said. “And then, that kind of put me on where I’m like, ‘OK, let me go back and look at my collection, to all the music that I listen to.’”

He continued, “With all the players here, everybody is so different from each other [and] everybody listens to different stuff. It definitely brought my mind in terms of Method Man, I listen to Wu-Tang [Clan] and Method Man and they’re showing me tracks from Method Man that I didn’t even know. So, stuff like that where I can broaden my mind, broaden my listening to different rappers, different artists and just kind of get that feel. Like, I put on Raekwon the other day. I don’t even know Raekwon‘s album, but I know a couple songs on it are just fire.”

Jamal Murray Credits Carmelo Anthony For Getting Him Into Wu-Tang Clan

To paraphrase RZA, 'How can the 90s be dead if Wu-Tang is forever?''

It’s funny because I remember when Vh1 made “I love the 90s” in 2004 and I remember saying “already? :dahell: It’s too soon!” Lol
Me too. I said the exact samething in 2004 when they dropped I loved the 90s. I was thinking “But 1999 was only 5yrs ago.” :jbhmm:

They should’ve dropped I Love The 90s in 2010.

Yall nikkas must legit be baseheads or something talking like folks fall off a cliff and die @ 30.

The nostalgia not gonna hit the same when you trying to reminisce on trash. Nobody honoring back in the day talk from teenagers about doing the soulja boy and using mommy's money to give to streamers. Yall lil weird nikkas gotta hold that L forever. You born in the era where everything had begun being b*stardized creatively.

The difference is the narrative today that its ok for people not to listen to classics and to be ignorant dikkheads calling every artist they listen to GOAT. I was too young for the prime of Mike Jackson, frankie beverly and maze, sade, teddy P etc. I still grew up listening to all that shyt snd understood the levels to artistry.

These lil nikkas just thirsty to have something to beat their chest on, im just sad oldheads fell for that bullshyt :mjlol: Like 80's rap fans didn't die off when pac, cube, nas & jay were getting put at the top of the genre. The torches was just passed

Yall keep on getting mindfukked by these lil pillheads if you wanna

Every song is a re hash of a remix at this point
Disturbing number of hit rap songs these past 2 years are just rehashing 90s rap songs, so shamelessly to the point where nikkas just letting the sample play for the hook and adlibbing to it :dead: some of the laziest, creatively bankrupt shyt I ever heard in my life

Anybody born in 99+ gotta stfu with that nostalgia talk. shyt is only an illogical emotion for yall, every other generation with a frame of reference can see the falloff as an objective reality.

Culture has been stagnant for a while now
I disagree. I think the 2000s and 2010s are distinctive from each other and those distinctions will grow clearer with time. As far as the 2020s, it takes a few years for a decade to get a since of self. The first few years of the 90s feel likes leftovers from the 80s, 80s from 70s, 70s from 60s, etc.

Sad part is rap and hipmhip hop is only 50ish years old and history to many is forgotten. 70' to 80's hip hip culture.grafiti ,dj, breakdancing, rap, etc is only few today's age could less. If

Till this day, many in my opinion, black folks
believe techno and house music white folks or european music is white people music just cause it's not played in urban radio.

You got folks that don't vote but manage to complain as if their voices will be heard. Every generation has their own set of ego's and greatness as well.

We now live in a microwave information mentality hence why rap artists come and go quickly fans get bored quicker
