I may have been 5 but I remembered the OJ trial

And could see the racial tensions on the news

This whole you couldn’t experience it because you were too young

Only socially :mjcry: and the music I had to get on it in the 2000s

But not the TV shows movies or news events moms always had the news on my memory is great :sas1:

The 2010s feel like a remix version of the 2000s. :jbhmm:
I think there are some distinctive music and fashion trends but I can see how that blurs together for an older person.

I think there are certain distinctions that are inarguable.

2010s:
  • MCU is a game changer for film franchises and comic book films
  • Rise of Occult Media (Vampires/Werewolves/Zombies)
  • Well-made television begins to match the budget and prestige of film
  • Rise of Streaming Services
  • Further advances in tech(ipad, hover boards, air pods, amazon echo, smart TVs, etc.)
  • In regards to popularity, social media makes it’s mark this decade more significantly than in the 2000s.
  • The reality television celebrity gives way to the social media celebrity.
  • Social media completely redefines how public figures are perceived and how they interact with the public.
  • Trump Presidency
  • Increased partisanship of the political parties
  • BLM
  • The LGBT community makes huge strides in not only acceptance but power
  • Increased political correctness(not necessarily a bad thing)
I could go on and on all day.

With music we saw the rise of EDM, emo hip hop, trap, that annoying ass SZA/Lorde singing style that female singers use now, etc. With fashion, I remember skinny jeans, flannel, uggs, printed t-shirts, scarfs, jumpers, etc.

I’d agree with this except occult media, I don’t think anyone really cares about monsters like that, like Twilight and Shape of water been and gone, others tend to flop like look at Hellboy. Zombies are more a staple but they usually are under a general interesting franchise like CoD or GoT. I’d probably replace it with true crime but I can see why people would think that’s a stretch. I can’t comment on fashion either really

Everything you typed was on the rise in the 2000s, which is why I say the 2010s are a remix.

1. Comic book movies were common in the 2000s, but were OD'd in the 2010s.
2. Vamps/Werewolves/etc were always around, and the Twilight movie came out in 2008.
3. Breaking Bad came out in 2006, plus you had Sopranos, Wire, Shield out.
4. iPods and cellphones were around in 2000s and evolving.
5. Being PC was becoming heavy in the 2000s.
6. Social Media started in the 2000s.

I can go on, but I'm not gonna type shyt out. One last thing, The 2010s were just an amplified era of the 2000s. I'm a Millennial, there isn't no blurred vision. I remember the 90s and it wasn't like the 00s. Cassette are far from iPods; mp3s have switched to straight digital, which isn't like the tape to mp3 jump.

It didn’t last the entire decade but it definitely huge for at least half the decade. Harry Potter finished up its franchise on a high note. The Twilight Saga and The Walking Dead were extremely popular for several years. Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, True Blood, etc. were also big. Even Disney Channel was doing Vampire vs. Werewolves specials.

Trends that define a decade often start in the previous decade.Your comparisons are superficial.

I used your examples to show how it's just an amplified era with not much change. CDs are far from iPods (90s to 00s); mp3s have switched to straight digital (00s to 10s), which isn't like the CD to mp3 jump. DVD to blu was a huge leap, but blu to 4k isn't so much.

If you look at every era before the 2000s you can see how different each is. 2000s to the 2010s, although different in certain ways, are far from being distinct. It's like the 2010s just blended in with the 2000s and only slightly changed.

:mjlol: yes they do it's a reason so many documentaries, movies, and revivals from the 90s keep dropping and brandy and monica just had 1.2 million viewers on an ig live based on 90s nostalgia.

Right....cacs even dug up Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures for one more lap :mjlol:

The Comfort Zone
Like they did just add a bunch of 90s shows on Netflix which bring very high streaming numbers unlike trash like "Eve" :mjlol:

Like the three most popular Verzuz battles weren't all artists who came out in the 90s while the one with the least amount of viewers were 2000s artists.

Like they still don't show countless reruns of Martin, Fresh Prince, etc.

New York Undercover is getting a reboot

MJ primetime music video premieres

2000s tries to claim Sponge Bob but that's 90s too :umad:

My students (teens) bug me about the 90s all time (Ms. Azul, I wish I were alive in the 90s)

I could go on and on. What a time. Too bad you missed it.

The people in media know this new age shyt is garbage. Thats why the 90s wont die. :yeshrug:

Even the last dance was centered around a 90s team..

Aside from the 2000s lakers, no other modern team will have that nostalgia..

The 90s was just the g.o.a.t.. :manny:
shyt, people period. You really think these nikkas actually enjoy listening to Dababy or whatever wack ass nikka is "hot" right now? It's just popular because...that's all they have to listen to now.
