These new rappers aren’t artists anymore. As in there’s no love or art in the music. Drake, Kendrick, Cole and them were the last ones. And they’re 15 years in. Where are the Gen Z rappers? The drop in quality is so apparent when you go listen to 90s and 2000s artists then listen to today’s music.

Quality aside, demo shifts are probably the biggest reason why rap is flopping right now. Spotify users have abandoned rap and all Amazon music users listen to is country and pop music. That's 2 of the 3 biggest streaming services in the US

All rap has is Apple Music. nikkas like Rod Wave and YB dominate AM but are invisible on Spotify and Amazon. If they could replicate even half of their AM performance on Spotify and Amazon, their songs would be in the top 10 right now

This is interesting do you have any data to back it up?

There is plenty of great Gen Z rappers. The problem is they are having trouble reaching a broader audience either due to record labels, not marketing correctly, change in rap media, and also the consumers themselves.

We also live in a era where we get to consume who we want and at any time, I bet so many people are just comfortable with there few fav rappers and won't even bother to search for new artists. Back then there was less mediums for artists to be presented, which led to a bigger spotlight for those who did make it through those mediums, which in turn made them huge stars.

I love rap but it's time for something new.
Nah Rap will always be here, the only thing that needs to change is the bullshyt that is being promoted. People making soulless repetitive and no substance music, and trying to chase hits. They not putting any energy or soul into some of this BS on top cause everything is mellowed "gotta catch a vibe" ass music.

Labels stopped pouring money in a “hit” song. This is why indie artists are eating more, they don’t have to conform into the dumb industry bullshyt of music with a formula.

Exactly...They now remove older songs from the charts to give brand new songs a chance to enter the charts... And considering there hasn't been any release from a big rapper, there's no rap song on the charts. Thats as simple as that lol.

Luther will officially be the very last hit to stay at the top of the charts for multiple weeks...unless they allow older songs to stay on the charts again in the future.

15 years ago teenagers wanted to fukk off their life trying to be a rapper; in 2025 they're trying to be streamers.
Acting like it's only nikkas trying to be streamers :unimpressed:

Mind you, a successful rapper never tries to be a streamer or influencer. It's always the other way around.
