Was the star system even around in the early 90's?
There's not really a abundance of 5 star athletes out there in hs football. so it makes sense that there wouldn't be a ton of them in the nfl. Also there are going to be a ton of 3 star athletes who may not have reached their potential in hs and became better and equal to those five star players.

no. but Peyton Manning was the most coveted high school player just like he was the most coveted dude coming outta college. he was one of them can't miss prospects at each stage.
