I'm pretty sure he was a 4 star in most rankings and since when did an A&M offer mean anything :heh:

other notable in-state school, he did get one from them. ND, USC etc it looks like 2 sites had him as a 3 and 2 others as a 4. they could have included him but ESPN was one of the ones that had him @ 3

There's not really a abundance of 5 star athletes out there in hs football. so it makes sense that there wouldn't be a ton of them in the nfl. Also there are going to be a ton of 3 star athletes who may not have reached their potential in hs and became better and equal to those five star players.

also you can't discount the fact that high school recruiting is 1000% better now than it was just a decade ago thanks to the internet and all these all-star/summer camps. now if you're dope, you can prove it in summer camps or you can upload your highlights on the internet on sites like hudl so that college coaches can see you. back in the day it was difficult to get yourself out on film so coaches could see you and there weren't as many camps as there are now.

there will still be 5 star guys who bust and 2 star guys that come outta nowhere just like in the NFL draft 1st rounders still bust and 6th rounders become HOFers. however, I think ranking system will continue to get better and more precise.

I wouldn't say rankings are complete bullshyt. Fact is, just like we see at the professional level some guys peak early, others take time to develop, injuries occur etc. There may be no 5* guys but, as an example, Marshawn Lynch was a four star recruit but he was universally considered the second best RB in his class after a guy named Adrian Peterson. Would say the turned out fairly accurately. Furthermore, if you look at position breakdowns most of the top performers are either 4 or 5 * recruits with the occasional 3* or less who either developed later or simply out worked everyone.
