People say this but it has never happened. Is Jazz poppin right now? What about barbershop quartets? Classical? History never repeats itself.

whoa whoa whoaaaaaaaaaa.. you cant turn around and say a whole genre of music. You didnt say the whole genre of rap. you said street rap.

Jazz, Classical etc have never gone away in their circles. What kind of classical you talmbout aint hot in that genre breh?? Violin Concerto? Madrigal? Sonata? whet? oh do you know? exactly..

If high top fades can come back in 2014, so can street rap at some point..

Terrible comparison. You're comparing entire musical genres to a specific type of music within a genre that is still extremely popular.

And yes, classical music is still popping. How do you think symphony orchestras been selling out the last 100+ years?

Lil B can "sell out a show" doesn't mean he is mainstream. And stop acting like the average person in the street knows or gives a fukk about classical music. It's for a niche audience. Just like street rap. Hip Hop more than any other genre is about the youth and moving forward. Hip Hop does not respect it's elders or things that came before it. What gives you the idea that their would ever be some mass movement in hip hop that references the past. For every Joey Badass in NY their are a dozen French Montana's.

Now if POP would have came in here with the argument that hey, gentrification has basically destroyed the inner city grime that was the fuel for NYC street rap and he dont think it can come back ever.. I'd be more inclined to listen to the argument and maybe could see that. lol

But dont come in here with no dumb ass correlations..

whats the niche audience breh? its a culture just like hip hop. Go to Broadway and open up your dumb ass way of thinking. Rodgers and Hammerstein legacy will always be bigger than Drakes dawg..lol

I don't agree, 50 and Pac are the only nikkas who was mainstream and was street rappers. Street rappers blowing up to the point there as popular as white pop stars is rare to begin with.

Not anytime soon. But eventually the cycle will repeat itself. If not a thug rapper, then a thug......something else. EDM or something. People liketo live fantasies.

I was agreeing with OP, nodding my head at his words, until he said that the younger generation is open-minded and they want quality music :usure:

Yeah, what I hear on the radio nowadays that this younger generation listens to :patrice::what:
