Launches are postponed due to weather all the time. Forecasts aren't perfect, the launch dates are set weeks in advance with the backups set at the same time, and of course they're going to wait until the actual day to call it a go or not so they see the actual weather, not just a prediction.

They actually wait until within an hour of the launch window.

But that's irrelevant. Postponing the first manned space flight in over a decade is a huge letdown and almost certainly won't have the same enthusiasm the second time around.

The same goes for anything that gets postponed. :pachaha:

Its on saturday so enthusiasm should be fine. but why does enthusiasm really matter much in this situation?

Are you asking why enthusiasm should matter on a demo run for a private company attempting to secure government approval for manned space flight?

Capitalism

Im saying enthusiasm of the public is irrelevant to the importance of the mission and also that a few day delay isnt gonna make someone who was enthusiastic not enthusiastic

Enthusiasm implied to me you were talking about public interest
I specifically said capitalism. Why wouldn't you think that applies to contractors, investors, customers concerned about the cost of delays, etc?

Public enthusiasm might matter for people in the Tampa area if it weren't for Covid 19, but again I didn't mention the public.

I didnt say it didnt matter re:capitalism. I was specifically addressing public enthusiasm. Your post wasnt entirely clear to me.

It matters to the aforementioned but i cannot see how costs of delays wouldnt be factored in already by those parties. When something is planned years in advance, its fair to expect delays and a few days is nothing.

Delays cost money. The purpose of these programs is to bring costs down.

Certainly there was something pushing them to go forward despite knowing their was an extremely slim chance with the poor weather forecast (tropical storm/depression).

Maybe it was pressure from NASA and the executive branch. With a title like bummed out, clearly someone isn't as enthused. :unimpressed:

Create fanfare to Launch people to space, but don't check the forecast.

:russ:
Almost everyday in this county from May to July it rains or is projected to rain. I don't fukk with Elon but yall acting like NASA didn't scrub/postpone launches regularly

Hell in middle school here there's a field trip where you go to NASA, do a mini tour, and watch a rocket or shuttle launch. When I did it the launch got scrubbed because of wind and from adults to kids we all :yeshrug:because NASA postponing shyt is commonplace and the history of the Challenger is well taught here
