I pray too. It's not gonna kill me or anything so I just do it so I don't bring attention to myself.

Depends on my mood, most of the time those I just close my eyes and bow my head out of respect. But sometimes I look around at everyone and make funny faces at the kids with their eyes open.

The thing is you should respect their beliefs and just meditate while they pray, I'm Muslim and I've been in plenty prayers that end with in the name of our lord and savior Jesus Christ...I don't mind it because I say my prayer to myself, you can reflect on something or meditate if you're not a believer.

What do you do at family get-togethers when everyone prays? Do you pretend to pray with your eyes closed? I just stand there with my eyes open when they "bless the food."

What about when nosy ass aunts or uncles or whoever start asking why you don't go to church?

My beliefs don't really align with those of my mom and grandmom. However, they put in a ton of work and sacrifice for me so I close my eyes during the prayers. They used to ride me pretty hard about church but after I threw some bible verses at them about personal relationships with GAWD they fell back .

We tried having a 'discussion' about it once but that ish backfired ASAP

I pray silently before every meal, by myself or with the fam.... Alot of my non religious family and friends seem to just put their head down out of respect....

If you were really bout it bout it, instead of sitting there patiently waiting for the prayer to be over, like everyone else is, you'd either excuse yourself from the table or just start eating.
