See, I never understand people like you. You probably think rapping = lyrics and strictly that. No one in their right mind would ever think Trag had the voice or delivery that Nore could bring to a track.

i know what youre saying but i thought against all odds was a pretty dope album :manny: and wheil i agree he doesnt have Nores charm chasrimsa whatever u want to call it that makes you big i think Tragedy is entertaining on the mic hes not a total bore like some dudes he just didnt have crossover appeal

I remember when Will Smith referenced Intelligent Hoodlum on an episode of the Fresh Prince.

and an episode when Ashley wanted to become a singing star, they showed Illmatic poster in the record store. Will clearly fukked with QB rap :takedat:

word. to the point nas was even the co-writer on "big willie style"...you know that album that went DIAMOND in the u.s ALONE....

TRU: You’ve been in the game longer than almost anybody else, what were your most memorable recording experiences?

Tragedy: The most memorable? I’d have to say; Chuck D, Nas and Big Pun. Those are like the three most memorable to me. The reason why Nas was one of the most memorable was the time we did this song together called ‘Calm Down.’ Everybody gave their energy and came a certain way on the song and killed it, I killed it, Nore killed it, but when Nas came he did a short story that was so graphic… He did a story in 16 bars. Most people would’ve taken a whole song to do a story. But he did the story like he wrote an essay, he wrote and spat a lyrical essay in 16 bars. An essay has an introduction, a subject matter and a conclusion. He gave you the story, he gave you the intro, the subject matter and he closed it. That was crazy how he did that. He killed that shyt. That was one of the phenomenal joints to me.

i always suspected that trag was slightly jealous of nas since nas came out and took the spot that trag felt he shoulda had. that's just my theory though.

i did always find it kinda ill though that the one song that nas got clearance for with noreaga "body in the trunk", sounded like a tragedy diss or at least nas's verse did. and although nas singing the hook on "i love my life" was kinda :patrice: i don't get why columbia wouldn't clear it. as far as i know he didn't even drop a verse, he just sang the hook for that cut or at least he did on the snippet i heard off that noreaga sampler mixtape that dropped before the album. i'd love to have a full CDQ version of that jawn though.

either way, "Calm Down" and "Married To Marijuana" being cut from The War Report was a fukking travesty. that shyt fukking pissed me off when i copped the CD only to not find them anywhere on the album. I always add those 2 cuts to my version of the album.

man does anyone have that nore sampler mixtape? been looking for that for awhile now

Not if you like voice. You know the unit of sound that's the purpose of music in the first place.
Ehhh lets all just leave it at, Tragedy is a lot better rapper in every technical sense, taught Nore how to actually rap and structure songs, executive produced, picked the beats, themes, and coached the lyrics on the only NORE project that is actually respected in hindsight... meanwhile NORE is vastly more popular, and has more hit...

But we are talking about music and not prose. Music is SUNG/RAPPED and so voice/ delivery is significantly more important than semantics.

Tons of ghostwriters out there but not everyone can actually put their voicebox on the track and make it interesting.

Like I said, NORE has one album that is rated as not wack, and thats the first CNN joint... and on that tragedy khadafi did EVERYTHING... Meanwhile Tragedy has a couple good projects, both old school from the late 80s/early 90s when he was intelligent hoodlum, and in the late 90s when he was tragedy khadafi (thug matrix was dope). So while I can see your point that NORE is a bigger star, and has more charisma, its not like NORE dropped a bunch of dope musical projects that just werent 'technically' tight but still were good. Basically NORE shoulda done himself on his singles, and he shoulda kept tragedy around as a ghost writer for all the other tracks on his albums if nothing else cuz NORE albums been disappointing ever since he stopped messing with tragedy. MUSICALLY not on some highbrow rappity rap sh!t
