shyt is expensive. It's not a broke nikkas. If you are willing to commute and move further out there are decent places for you.

Woodbridge/Lake Ridge is pretty inexpensive, granted, it's not in the glitz and glamor areas of Arlington/Alexandria/Fairfax but you can live comfortably in a pretty decent sized house for cheap down that way.

too far out...Gaithersburg and Germantown in MD is nice too

Because it's an economically strong area that hasn't been hit as hard by the economic decline as much as other cities, and the population tends to skew more educated/affluent than most of America.
