Bird played in a tougher league and had more success...no way Lebron is better than him.

Bird's passing is even underrated and that would be the only thing you might want to give Lebron on. Bird is a better defender, better shooter, better leader....

Lebron being the second best PERIMETER PLAYER of all time? HAHA. You guys type shyt just to fukking type it I swear. He's not a better perimeter scorer than Kobe, Bird, Allen Iverson let alone Michael Jordan. Don't even bring up his matador defense on the perimeter either. He can't even lock down a bike on a rack.

But then again you have a ton of posters on here in their 20s who barely remember seeing Michael Jordan play :snoop:
He averaged more than everyone you names except Jordan on much better efficiency. Now he isn't an elite defender when he wants to be? We must be talking about two LeBrons.

There's no consistency to these lists

How is Durant ahead of Pippen right now?

Is he a better player, sure

but how is he in anyway historically better?

Also don't see how Elgin is ahead of Scottie
Well, I mean these same guys threw Stephen Curry ahead of everybody because he's hot right now, so I'm not surprised they did the same with Durant.

Historically speaking though, what's confusing about Baylor being ahead of Pippen? Pippen doesn't really belong ahead of Rick Barry or Havlicek either if we're just looking from the lens of history (obviously I say that because while I might be headed towards :flabbynsick: I'm nowhere near that age range).

USING CURRENT PLAYERS IN THESE LISTS IS A DISSERVICE TO EVERYONE INVOLVED.

IF WE COME BACK 8 YRS FROM NOW,
AND KD HAS NO RINGS...
HE WOULD GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS JUST ANOTHER NICE SCORER.

FOR EXAMPLE....
ADRIAN DANTLEY AVERAGED 30PPG ON 57% SHOOTING DURING HIS 7 YRS IN UTAH.
HE GOT SHIPPED OUT OF DETROIT RIGHT BEFORE THEY WON THEIR RINGS,
SO HISTORY HASNT TREATED HIM WELL.

THEY NEED TO LET THESE DUDES CAREERS PLAY OUT.

Because as it stands right now, NOBODY is close to LeBron. Not even close = not having an argument - which Bird doesn't. LeBron played a higher level for a longer period of time - the margin between him and Bird only continues to widen. It's taken me a while to really appreciate what he did in his latter years during his first stint in Cleveland. Even to the point where I question if even Jordan would've had more impact or not during that period.
This means a lot coming from you. :wow:

If KD gets rings and maintains his pace he will be no lower than #2 when his career is over IMO

PG and Kawai will also be there.

Ya'll sure Dominique Wilkins is better than Melo? I'm only 26 so OGs fill me in.

PS: No Paul Piece on that top 10 is even worse than no Carmelo IMO

PPS: Everyone just referring to KD as a great scorer doesn't watch the Thunder play. He's been more than that for at least 4 years now. He's a complete superstar. Scoring, rebound, passing, defending. He's even blocking shots this year. For everyone saying he's too high at #4, tell me who who should be ahead of him?

Well u gotta be careful...he would have no rings without Jordan.

But how many would Jordan have without Pippen:jbhmm:?Lets just say without Pippen theres a Laker at #1 on that greatest PG of all time list,as well as at the shooting guard list:sas1:

“I never thought about trying to win MVP,” said Pippen. “I never thought about trying to do things as an individual. That’s just not how I played the game and it wasn’t in my pedigree. I couldn’t have made myself play that way. It never crossed my mind to try and lead the league in scoring. I viewed that as sort of selfish goal and while I did have personal goals, they were to make the All-Defense team or be Defensive Player of the Year. I of course wanted to be one of the top players in the game, but I wanted to do it within my natural style of play. So I learned to let the game flow to me and stayed away from putting pressure on myself or rushing aspects of my game.”

How the hell is Durant better than Scottie when the truth is Russell Westbrook would probably have a ring right now if he had Scottie Pippen:childplease:?Stop and think about that, and then come back in here and tell me Durant is better than god damn Pippen...Knowing what you know now, you'd have to be a damn fool to draft Durant over Pippen:laff:

As much as he gained, being humble has cost Scottie so much, and now its cost him a higher spot on the espn list, nothing new here:mjcry:...I hope Scottie goes off on ESPN immediately, because when he lets the disrespect due to his humility build up,it usually ends in him making a bad decision,or it will end with him saying some outlandish statement in 2019 because he's still mad about this espn list:pachaha:

Larry Birds career averages at 31: 25ppg 10reb 6ast
Lebron James career averages at 31: 27ppg 7reb 7ast

This is CLOSE. By 31y/o they share 2 FMVPs, Bird has 3 rings to Lebrons 2. Lebron has 4 MVPs to Birds 3. This among other details make the debate. It's close.

Even to the point where I question if even Jordan would've had more impact or not during that period.

:whoa:

LeBron 5x first team all defensive

Larry Bird 0 times first team all defensive

Ontop of that LeBron has been the best SF in the league at a time the SF spot is deeper than it has ever been, his level of competition that he faces on a nightly basis at his position trumps Bird.

i) You can't just go by surface stats (especially rebounds - since they're meaningless in this context)
ii) Defense is better today than it was in the 80s, by a considerable margin:

Bird's best seasons ('83-'88) the league average pace was - 103, 101, 102, 102, 100, 99
LeBron's best seasons ('05-'13) the league average pace was - 90, 90, 91, 92, 91, 92, 92, 91, 92

LeBron is playing in a league with 10-13 less possessions per game, yet he was still putting up more production than Bird. Can you imagine the difference in their #s if LeBron had the advantage of playing in an era with 10-13 more possessions a game? Dude would be approaching Wilt numbers.
