He was one of the most popular comedians in the 00's. And for the mid 00's, you could argue he was the most popular after Dane Cook.
People always found him funny, he just always seemed to get himself in some sort of trouble-- which stunted his career. Still, I side with Hart on the general argument. A lot of Katt worship right now is the internet saying, "I hate K-Hart so anything negative about him is true" while ignoring all the facts of his career.
Or this weird notion where if you struggled more, that means you're wiser and everyone else just sold out. Dude gave his own friends equity in production, constantly gives back to Philly and whether you agree or not, promotes financial literacy using his own failures as an example.

Who on this forum idolize Steve, Ced, Blackson, or Kevin

Why does everything turn into this
I'm not necessarily talking about this form.

I've seen alot of heads talking shyt about Katt but about them who you were referring to is obviously the truth because nobody refuted it.

Just alot of unnecessary venom where is it coming from all he doing is promoting it's so obvious.

I don't think it's that people say he's the funniest now. People willingly sell, promote, and hype "content" if they personally like someone involved in it. Especially when the person has gone through some adversity, or believes all the good political things, or has all the good opinions on [insert topic]. Last year remember the way people fawned over Everything Everywhere All At Once and spent months glorifying members of the cast? Or a few weeks ago when everyone was fawning over Jenna Ortega for dropping out of the Scream movie due to censorship on Palestine/Gaza. There's a rally-around-the-flag trigger in people's brains where they demand that all content adhere to whatever their personal believes or ideals are. And when an actress, comedian, film etc do all those things they get put on a pedestal.

Katt told a bunch of blatant lies on that ep but he told people what they wanted to hear, which is all that matters. People want to believe that the only way black men gain success in America is by sucking white dikk behind closed doors. They want to believe any success a black man has is because of gay shyt because it allows them to mentally accept their own professional failures easier. "Only reason I didn't get that job is because I didn't kiss a white man's ass or worse." Yea ok buddy. People are always going to side with someone they perceive as the pure truth teller or oppressed figure who didn't achieve xyz because The Powers That Be said no.

Here's where I disagree. Do I think for example Denzel, Sam Jackson, Laurence Fishburn, Ice Cube did that, hell no. But yes I do believe Hollyweird has some of our faves in their pockets who are willing to do some Hollyweird things on and off camera for stardom and money

Katt got many clips on YouTube with 10+ million views.

Katt is one of the most popular comics to ever do it

Agreed. In addition, he has 3 specials that are at the bare minimum, cult classics.

Pimp Chronicles vol 1
American Hustle
It's Pimpin Pimpin

Most comics got one or zero classics. Katt been that nikka.

Exactly, you have the comedians that white people exalt as funny and the comedians that black people say are funny. You’re not going to see comedians like Corey Holcomb or katt Williams being pushed by the white owned media but they’re on every black person’s favorite comedian list meanwhile the comedians like Chris rock, Dave chapelle, etc are loved by white people but to black people they really aren’t that funny.

My thing is we acting like most of these dudes didnt have they time. Chris Rock had his time during the Bigger and Blacker era. He was the hottest black comedian and black people fukked with him. Dave Chapelle had his time with Chapelle show where nikkas fukked with him. Kevin Hart even had his moment where black people fukked with him.

Basically once they crossover,or white people start loving them a little too much,or ranking them too high. Black folks feel the need to over correct in order to make sure cacs know they are wrong. Saying these folks were never considered funny is just a lie.:mjlol:

Saying they not funny now is one thing, but saying they was never considered funny?

Black people that “cross over” to the white community usually do so by compromising themselves or black people as a whole which makes white people comfortable. There’s a reason white people don’t like comedians like Corey and katt despite them being funny and successful comedians.

Chris rock crossed over when white people coopted the “black people vs nikkas joke.”

Dave chapelle crossed over with the chapelle shows’ caricatures of black people. A lot of that material is flat out racist when you consider the show had white writers. Dave chapelle himself said one of the reasons he stopped the show was because he realized people were laughing at him and not with him.

Once they cross over to the white audience, they stop doing the material that black people find funny. White people and black people have a different sense of humor. White people for instance think black men parading around in dresses is funny. We don’t. White people think gay humor is funny. We don’t.

I disagree with some of this, but Chris Rock and Chapelle were more known by white people before black people just due to their route. So those two actually crossed over to black people. Then took the same route as every other black comedian. Once you get popular enough with black people, then the execs want to see if white people will like you. It was a no brainer with Chapelle and Chris because white people already liked them before we really did. As a black comedian you have to go through black people. Can anybody name a black comedian who Went on to be a star without a black cosign, and becoming popular with us first? This is how we know "they were never funny to black people" is a lie. Because if it were true, they wouldve never been big in the first place.

Does there comedy change? I kinda wanna say yes. But on the other hand they are 20-30 years older than they were when we first saw them. Chris Rocks comedy isnt super "safe" or catered to make whites comfortable even today. It may be more safe because hes a grown man though. Plus he fell off a little after decades of doing it,have some grace:mjlol:

And kevin just makes safe negro movies like Eddie now. But I think we all know those are money grabs. I dont judge Eddies funny based on those weak ass films. we saw what he could still do with Life if he wanted to. Kevin i think just had enough for one good comedy special. Still funny, but not a great comedian and probably never was. Hes in movies like he should be.

Whats funny is these people are on a lot of the white lists too

Kevin Hart interviewed Bill Burr once and asked his favorite comedians and Burr brought up Corey. They ended up talking about him for 5 more minutes

The point about Chappelle is not really true tho. Chappelle is wildly revered by both black and white people. That's why he's so popular. Dave is not hood black funny but he has just about every other section of black people and nikkas forget how disgustingly popular Chappelle Show was. That wasn't just white people breh
Corey Holcomb is on other white comedians list which proves my point. How does someone like bill burr who is loved by white people have Corey Holcomb high on his list but the massive amount of white people who support bill burr, don’t support Corey. Now if Corey did like other comedians and started wearing dresses all of a sudden he’s funny to them :comeon:

I think you’re missing my point or confusing me with the other poster. You repeated what I said about chappelle. Dave is known in the black community for his show, not his stand up. If you take away the chapelle show what stand up special is dave known for? What classic jokes does he have? The chappelle show made dave a staple in the black community. He even alluded to this in one of his recent stand up specials.

It has nothing to do with the ins and outs of black comedy.. it’s just being around black people .

Before this interview even happened If you polled black people who stand up was funnier between Katt Williams,Cedric The Entertainer,Rickey Smiley,Steve Harvey and Kevin Hart at the top would be Katt and Kev (because of his recent popularity) .

You can like a Kevin Hart movie and not think his stand up is great. His BET show and his appearances on Jamie Foxx’s show >>>> his stand up’s to me. He’s a naturally funny nikka .

Katt has the best stand-up special out that group EASILY.

all facts :ehh:

Dave chapelle’s black audience is majority “hood nikkas” just off the strength of the chapelle alone :mjlol:
People have to stop fronting man lol. Trying to play Dave like he was Shucky Ducky status or something :russ: You can not like Dave but still give him his props. I’m not a huge Katt standup fan but give him props. I personally can’t put him over Rock Or Chappelle though
