Part of this is because rap has evolved to where ppl who aren't about that life can rap ambiguous bars about street shyt

Drake does it all the time and wouldn't have gotten it away with it in earlier eras

But Drake also stays far enough from crime that he's not going to trial over what ppls he's are doing

How is that an evolution? Kool G Rap wasn't in the streets until after he started rapping. This isn't nothing new. A lot of rappers we hold in high regard have this same path. Actor and dancer Pac is another example. Hip hop keeps lying and contradicting itself. Is it just entertainment or not?
