Someone respond to this...if gunna is a gangsta rapper so is lil yacthy...right?

Again, ANYONE rapping that content is trying to present themselves as a gangster rapper/street rapper/street- adjacent rapper/whatever you want to call it.

Now, if you want to nit pick the golden ratio of exactly how much of that content constitutes being called a gangster rapper, knock yourself out. But this was never some big ass mystery, or debate prior to Gunna. BIG and Pun both have pop hits and fun goofy songs....it would not be crazy to call them street/gangster rappers, though. People act as if every song has to be on some murder shyt, for you to be in this genre.

I’m legit confused by fans of Gunna. Do y’all feel if he was a “gangster” rapper and did what he did y’all wouldn’t listen to him or something?

So if y’all pretend he never was a “gangster” it’s cool to listen to him lol

I need to know

None of us give a fukk but the real problem is why do YOU care? You don't listen to his music and believe he is a snitch that violates your street ethics, why are you so obsessed with his status as a snitch? It's literally nothing to you

The thread is asking if Gunna is a gangster rapper. The answer to that question is yes...

If we're pivoting to ask if Gunna is an actual gangster, dudes are gonna vary on that answer too. Me personally it's a no, he's a guy who sold drugs and hung around gang members and is a gang member himself, but he's not a gangster. But I have the perspective of what an actual gangster is from a street dude's eyes...

He's still a gangster rapper and he'd be FAR from the first guy to rap g shyt without being an actual g...

Pretty sure talking about killing people and selling drugs qualifies you as a gangster rapper

I wonder if the general population is this dumb or if it's just Twitter..

Also, is talking about murdering people supposed to be a generic topic?

Violence wasn't the center of his subject matter. Of course he had some bars talking that tough shyt but what rapper doesn't. Is Jay - Z a gangsta rapper ? Drake ?

Gunna's music mainly focused on drip and fukking bad bytches

:lupe: is a gangster rapper then by this logic.

If you affiliated with a gang.

You technically are the cultural taboo idea of being a prison industrial economy being mistaken as a gangsta rapper

Lupe is a gangsta rapper who tried alternative music anD fooled y'all.
Duke never spit nowhere of note and uses he from the Westside and his pop legend to act like he was in the underground d and was not ever like that. I never seen dude nowhere with boogs nowhere.

The fact people dispute this.

shows they sheltered and never once was in the underground cultural scene of hiphop at all ever.

A whole Lotta toys talkin like they know hiphop culture. Then speaking outta turn cause they supplanted street culture for hiphop culture which are not one in the same at all.

Yet show you confused and expose yourself.

Difference between Jigga and Drake is one actually put in work in the streets and the other was an actor.

Fair enough, no argument from me there. My point was that none of them would be considered "gangsta rappers" cause violence, murder etc wasn't the focus of their music, more so sprinkled in here and there.
